Larger tires hold a larger volume of air. The larger volume carries more weight at the same pressure. Stock tires were 35psi. 285s probably could be run at ~32psi.

I would like to run them @ about 34psi. I am doing a mileage test on this tank. I have only used two tanks of gas since my lift and new rims/tires. I have gotten 17.4 on both @ 40 psi. I bumped up to 60 psi to see if I get better mileage. Less rubber on the road = less surface area making contact with the road = less friction = better mileage maybe. Not sure what your Duratracs say on the side wall but mine say 85 max psi so I am not worried about a blow out or anything. With the 'E' load rating and 891's (for future aftermarket bumper and swing away tire carrier) the ride is very stiff. So I will go back down again for a slightly gentler ride. These tires aren't available with a 'c' load and were made for heavier trucks and ride rough even when they are aired down. My question for you would be what psi to wheel these at as I have never been rock crawling before.

At any pressure you should make sure the tread still sits relatively even on the pavement and at 60psi you have to be prematurely wearing them out in the middle.

I run mine at 37psi with good results and even wear.

Yep it is for a couple hundred miles. Not to worried about wearing them down in a tank. To the OP, 35 psi

I dont have 285's, but if I run more than 30-31 psi it shows center wear to indicate to much air. they are 265-75-16 load C and after my first road trip from getting them out of the shop at like 37ish I noticed the wear.

last road trip to CBI I got 22.6 MPG course that is chilling through yellowstone park with speed limit at 55-60

I run about 34 in my 255/85's. I'll run 10-12 lbs when wheeling.
