Duratrac question

I'm gettin new tires towards December and I'm leaning towards Duratracs, I read reviews but I want to hear what they are like on 4runners. One of my friends said they are bad about hydro planing. I've heard they last long and I've heard they don't last long. Lets see some feedback

One of my friends have those and it's just not as beefy as I would like, trying to stay away from knobby mud tires too

Ok so you're going to have to scroll up to the top of your screen and look at the top selection bar. There's this button that says search. Click it. Type in Duratrac. Then press go.

Poof the answer to your question appears.

Thank you captain obvious who is in the wrong section, if you notice on the main page there is a section that says 3rd gen. When you click it you will notice that is your section, thanks for the help on finding the search bar I was confused where it was :AK47:

14,000 miles on mine and they are still going strong. excellent in all conditions, especially snow. Reasonably quiet, considering the aggressive design. I purchased the "E" rated set. Black wall on both sides of tire and stronger sidewalls. No Regrets!

I love mine. They've been excellent both on road and off. I replaced a set of Hankook ATMs that had sub par performance in wet conditions, couldn't be happier.

I had duratracs on my Tacoma and will definately get them on my 4runner as soon as I can track down some TE wheels. Best tire I've ever owned. Hydroplaning???? I live in the pacific northwest and they were fantastic in the rain! I've had them rockcrawling, head up to Mt. Baker in the snow, little bit of mud, and everytime I was impressed. Yes, they will be a little noisier than a stock(road) tire, but nothing like a MT. If I beat you to it, I will let you know how they ride on my runner.

I recently put them on my old dodge pulling truck and I'm def. satisfied. They've worked well in mud, rain, loose dirt, and handle great on the road carrying 16,000 pounds of truck an trailer. I'm running the 315/75/16 E load. They're way meaty for an all terrain but extremely quite for being molded in a mud terrain caucus.

I don't have enough miles on them yet to tell you life expectancy but they've been a really good tire for my pulling truck. If they carried the same hub pattern i'd be temped to switch them out between my mickey thompsons

I'm driving a 2013, but have had AT3's and Duratracs installed in less than 1k miles.

Tried the AT3's (p-rated), couldn't get them balanced, so they were returned. They were also LOUD. The BFG AT KO's were my second choice, but they only had 3 in stock. They suggested the Duratracs (c-rated), but I was worried about how "meaty" the tires are. But I have to say, the tires are AMAZING! Drove home in the rain last night, and to the office in light snow today. The tires are impressive! Much better than my Nitto TG's (p-rated) that I had on my 06 Sport. Very quiet tire, I can hear them if I listen at highway speed, but nothing below 50mph.

A side note, they look great, and really transform the truck! There's also a rebate.

I'll also add that the duratracs i purchased have holes in the outer lugs to accept 6mm studs for icy driving conditions as apposed to running heavy chains

I'll also add my love for them. They are on my Silverado, had them since they came out (3 years ago?) and probably have 40k on them. They are holding up very well and I have not had any hydroplane issues with them. They are pretty quite IMO and the traction has been great in mud and snow. No complaints here.

thanks guys y'all cleared up my questions. Im not too worried about noise cause the Sh**y tires i have right now sound like Mud Grapplers going down the road. My friends say that it sounds like an airplane going down the road haha Thanks again guys.

I replaced my KM2's for a set of LT285/70R17 Duratracs and they have worked great in all terrains I have taken them in. :reddance:

Love my Duratrac's. I have them in 285/70-17 size and they don't hydroplane at all on the highway, even at 75 mph. They are a beast in snow and are pretty quiet for an aggressive A/T tire. my $0.02

I'm going to leap in here and add another positive comment. I have almost 5,000 on them and like them so far. Lake Tahoe basin had some really soggy snow fall Monday night so the drive in to work Monday morning was the first time I was disappointed. But after talking to others, seems everyone was having trouble getting traction in that snow. Had snow the following two days, colder temps, and the slippage started going away. I like them and I'll spend the $1,100 again when it's time to replace these ones on the same tires. But only IF I stay here in Tahoe. IF I move back down the hill to where it rarely snows, I'll go back to the BFG K/O's.
