Following the recommendations of forum members, I opted for the E rated Duratracs (standard size) for my new Trail. Had the work done at Discount, who matched Sears price and saved me some nice jack. A neighbor wanted my Dunlops and had them installed on his at the same time, so the net payment for me was just over $600 for the new rubber. I ran a quick errand while they were putting them on, and when I came back she was sitting right outside and looking great. Until I read the tire numbers and found out they installed Cs :ybrick: So they swapped them out right away, I thought for sure they would break a lug the second time but they did a great job and there were no problems.

After one highway ride (80mph) this morning my thoughts are:
- new tires do need a few hundred miles to break in :lookout:
- the noise is much less than expected, I had to shut off the fan and radio to hear them at all, and with the windows up it is almost no different to me than the Dunlops
- no steering wheel vibration whatsoever
- no "harshness" to the ride with the E load range, and they do feel firmer over ripple type road bumps

For those who have these, what psi are you running? After going over the details w/ the installer (namely don't break my lugs!) I forgot to discuss this. I need to buy a gauge to see where they are set.

I set mine at 44.

They are harsh on the trail that high, so last week I had them down at 34. Made a huge difference on the trail and not a big difference on the road. But I'm going to keep them at 44 for long highway drives and the daily to-work driving.
 
the Es should be at 44psi. SeattleMike has a buddy with the TRA tables who confirmed the LT conversion.

be sure yours are inflated properly as the first X number of miles purportedly "set" the tires and you don't want them to be under-inflated especially during that period.

+1 I've heard there are problems with "cupping" on the E rated if not properly inflated.
 
As others have mentioned, 44 psi for the LT tires matches the the stock (32?) psi for the Dunlops. Obviously, if you are carrying more weight in the back, add a few psi all around. I've only aired down once, at that was to drive on the beach. While I should have gone down to 20 psi for peace of mind, we did just fine at 34 psi in very soft sand as long as I kept moving and kept the revs low. Otherwise, the forest roads and gravel roads are fine at 44 psi.
 
Thanks friends. I was told by DT they set them at 40psi, so I guess I need a bit more air. Next question, is the 44psi your recommendation for the "cold" measurement in the morning? I was going to have them adjusted on my way home, but that is after 15 or so highway miles at speed, so I think they would need to be set higher to be at 44 in the morning. Thanks again!
 
Are those 265's? I'm having my Duratracks mounted on Sa****ay! I also have a grey TE, so it's nice to see what they'll look like!

Yes they are. I have no current plans for lifting, and stayed stock size. They look amazing. I have always been a BFG AT guy, and it took a bit of a leap for me to buy Goodyears. I believe they will meet and hopefully exceed expectations.

Thanks Sand. I was actually overinflated yesterday, and the tech who installed them lowered them down. I was in a bit of a rush after they needed extra time to replace the Cs with Es and we forgot to go over it. All good now, thanks for your reply.
 
actually, if you check out idrivat4r's lift thread you'll see that even with his lift (~3.25" front, iirc) the 265s really don't look undersized... that's good news (to me) b/c i want to keep my tires and would like to lift before they wear out... an OME kit should be available this autumn.

I was really looking at Revos..but I love the look of this tire, and I think from a traction perspective it has to be a bit better than a Revo
