Tire Balancing Products

I have a friend who uses them in his motorcycle and utility trailer and swears by them.

Try searching on Pirate4x4.com a lot of guys on there run them, or similar things. I have heard they work good. I would rather use airsoft pellets because they are cheaper. I researched it and remember reading about 8 Oz. of airsoft pellets is good for a 33. I think thats about 750 per tire. I will be trying this when i get 35's

Dyna Beads are awesome IMO. I almost got them in my current tires if static balancing wasn't recommended. Several guys in my Club use them with great success.

On my Dodge 2500 I use a different style dynamic wheel balancer called centramatic wheel balancers and really like them. My Toyo MT's have worn really flat and I don't get any shake. Centramatic They are a little pricey but I figured on a truck I have thousands of dollars of upgrades on and I don't plan on selling anytime soon it would be worth it.

I used 10 ounces of airsoft BB's in each of my 37" bias-play Iroks when I ran them on my XJ. It didn't see much road time (not licensed) but when I did run it on the road they seemed to work well.
My buddy ran them in a set of 35" BFG MT's and they also seem to work well with them.

If they balance bias ply tires I'm sure they work pretty good . I want 35" iroks on my 4runner....

My Dyna Beads came Today. Very Easy install took me about 10 mins for 2 wheels. i will try the 2 fronts using the Dyna beads first and see if it cures my balance issue. if all is well i will continued and add them to the rears as well. the beads are very small but bigger than grains of sand. i would estimate it would take maybe about 25 beads to equal one air soft pellet i will post some pictures of the beads tonight.

When I switch to 285's, I'm using Dynabeads for sure. Sounds like a no-brainer solution to long term tire balancing and increasing tread life.

No, not at all. I'm curious why you think your's require a static balance and NOT a dynamic. They are completely interchangeable....one just balances the rotation direction, and one balances side to side as well.

These replace static AND dynamic traditional balancing. When using dynabeads (or any product similiar) you get a constant dynamic balance for the life of the tires.

The papers that coming with the shipping info for Treadwrights say they MUST BE BALANCED IN STATIC MODE. I had my tires balanced in dynamic mode first and they took a TON of weight! Somewhere in the 12-15oz. range. Then I read the stupid papers and it said it has to be done statically. Each tire took less than 1oz. of weight when we did the change. I thought dynamic was when weights were placed at various places on the wheel and static balancing was choosing one place where all the weight will be placed.

So my thinking is that dynabeads will perform more like a dynamic balance rather than static. Am I wrong here?

Yes, when I ordered my Treadwrights, the gal told me specifically to static balance them. Which is what I usually do for all my tires anyway.

The dynabeads will work awesome, because they work like a static balance. The stay in the center of the tire (side to side) and go to where the tire needs the counter-balancing on the static plane. I was wrong in saying they act like a dynamic balance. They technically are a "dynamic" balance, because they work while in motion. However, the effect upon the tire is NOT like a traditional dynamic balance with fixed weights. It's confusing. lol

Ah. Thanks for the explanation. Are you going with the dynabeads? If I ended up doing it, should I remove all the other weights? Or should I just leave them on knowing that they're pretty close to a good balance?

Basically, the dynamic balance puts counterwieghts on both the inside and outside plane to balance the wheel/tire "wobble" effect. The problem as far as vibration/shake/etc in the cabin when driving, you really only FEEL and issue if it's on the principle axis of inertia. Which is what static balancing addresses.

As far as I understand, there is no way for the Dynabeads to move side to side, because of the inertial movement...they are forced to the center, and distribute themselves around the principle axis of inertia. Seems like dynamic solution to a static problem to me! I hope they work with my treadwrights. If they don't, I'll sell them. But I bet they'll work. I'll let you know in a month or so when my tires show up!


I would put 7-8oz of Dynabeads in each tire, and have your fixed wheel weight removed. You could technically leave them on and use less weight in Dynabeads...but I don't know if anyone has done that and gotten results either way. Maybe worth trying?

Hmmm.... I'm anxious to hear SikHiluxSurf's review of them. Very tempted to get these? do you think this will provide just as good of a balance as using the RoadForce 9000 with Haweka adapter?

I really think they will work, but if someone can tell me why they won't, I'm all ears. Treadwright says very clearly, STATIC balance their tires. But I feel like the beads will work the same as a traditional static balance. Just better.

I also figured I could sell them if they didn't work....and I might be able to...but I realized it might be kind of hard to not lose them when dismounting the tire.

Since this was my first personal experience with Treadwright (had only seen them in action/driven other vehicles with them) I wanted to follow the directions to the T and do the static balance. Now that I have the tires, I see no reason why Dynabeads wouldn't work great! So much so, I will probably still get some shortly and replace my regular weights.

So I've been waiting a while to post this, but here goes... I was looking for this info when I went this direction, so maybe someone else will find it useful.

I have an 08 unlimited with stock suspension, and went with Procomp 16" 7069s. Tires were pretty shot after 75,000, and I ran treadwrights when they were hi-tec retread, and they were great tires. I ordered the 33" (275/75/16 maybe? Can't remember exactly) Guard Dogs. When they came in, beautiful tire for a retread. I had done some research on dynabeads and ordered those as well to give them a try. Got them mounted and balanced and man, did the ride suck. Sometimes it would be fairly smooth, but most times, not at all. I thought well, maybe it's the beads and I'm stuck with it til I rebalance, but wasn't entirely sure. Then I ordered the same tires for my suburban and had them balanced traditional... Rode like a dream. So I take the jeep in to get them rebalanced, telling them I want the stick on weights cuz my wheels are black. Pick her up and what the crap... Standard wheel weights sticking out like a sore thumb on my purty black wheels. I complained, and they said they tried, but the tires wouldn't balance with stick ons. But she rides smooth as butter now. So, do dynabeads work? Dunno... Try them on new tires. Do I like treadwrights? Absolutely. But don't get them if you don't want wheel weights. Will 33's fit on stock suspension? Perfectly. Do I have to go buy a can of flat black spray paint to disguise the albatrosses hanging off my black wheels? Sadly, yes.

They handle great in the rain. I purchased these mainly to test them and maybe use them on other vehicles in my company. I do have another set of Hankooks MT that are only 3 months old on rims and dynabeads but prefer to ride on these.

Oh, and about balancing. I have put Dynabeads in the treadwrights and they feel great.
