So called Toyota today to cancel some of my services, of which I have 4.

I really wanted to keep Dynamic Navi only. They told me I could only cancel all 4 services (services safety connect, services dynamic navi, services remote connect, and service destination assist) and not an individual one.

I suppose I don't mind as the 2020 GPS system sucks anyway so may just cancel all and use Android Auto.

It really sucks the GPS (per Toyota) becomes useless unless connected to the cloud.

I agree the navigation sucks and it requires all the services for it to be functional.

Were you able to get Remote Connect working on your car? I'm confused if the 2020s support remote connect.

I've seen people say if you have Entune 3.0 (the 2020s does), it will support Remote Connect. When I tried calling the Toyota people, they said the car does not support it.

So without the subscription the navigation is totally non-functional? As in, doesn't even show your current position on a map?

I can't confirm that but highly doubt it. I would have to disconnect all my services to see what it actually does but I am guessing it is the destination lookup feature. I don't know if will still navigate if for example you type in an exact address.

You should still be able to use navigation. I think all dynamic navigation does is update maps and picks the best route.

Honestly, I would just use Android Auto and Google Maps. It's the better map system anyways.

My 2020 TRDP seems to have functional navigation. I haven't attempted to enter an address yet, which would seem important to determine things here, but my 13 Trail had it. I'd be pissed if the navi function only showed where I was and not a route to a destination I enter. That's freakin' ridiculous to charge for that.

Your nav will work just like the nav in every other car. The "connected" features basically add Scout GPS - a Telenav spinoff that gives you features similar to Google maps.

If any of you had Sprint some 5-10 years ago, then you'll be familiar with Scout - a Google wannabe.

Don't even bother. I'm successful about one in three times when I enter an address. I get nothing but errors. This head unit is so bad. I can't wait for the Maestro unit to come out.

Toyota's Nav / Phone pairing / system etc. has - for the most part - been a nightmare for many folks. Some people have no trouble with it; but there are many threads on a variety of subjects where folks had problems. Updates fixed some and created others over the years.

I played around with the system on our 2013 during the free trial. It worked then, but having to pay for updates after spending almost 40K just hit me wrong. So I got a Garmin with free lifetime updates that I can move to any vehicle in about 2min. My only complaint with Garmin is that my unit didn't come with an A/C charger so I could charge it in the house. A separate one is like $70 bucks! The maps and travel turn by turn directions work well once you get used to it. There are lots of YouTube vids out there to help.

Anybody else have a problem with your phone continuously disconnecting and reconnecting as you roll down the road? Mine does it with three different phones. Radio and BT firmware is the latest Toyota offers.

Doesn't the Garmin just charge via a Mini or Micro USB? If so, any $10 phone charger should do the trick.
