E-Locker Axle Brake Lines Dilemna

Hello all,
I own a 1996 T4R without a factory E-Locker. I have waiting for installstallation a complete E-Locker axle out of a 2000 T4R. The problem is the E-Locker axle is missing all of the brake lines. Can I just swap brake lines over or are they different? If they are different how so? I do not want this to turn into a week long drawn out project with my daily driver in pieces so I am trying to be pro-active and round up needed parts in anticipation. I could always buy the brake lines to get ready but I thought I would try to save a few bucks if possible.

Also, am I able to use my open diff 1996 axles and backing plates? I ask because the backing plates are kind of fubared on the 2000 E-Locker.

You'll be fine. The brake lines are all the same thread pitch, yadda yadda yadda.

I took a 8.4" 1996 Toyota Tacoma housing, and used my backing plates, brake lines, axles, ECT.

A 4Runner housing will be the same thing. Both 8". Only difference is if the yours or the 2000 have ABS. If both have ABS, you're golden.

If you don't, but the 2000 does, you're gonna have to plug the hole.

If you do, and the 2000 doesn't, gotta figure out what you're going to do. That's gonna your biggest problem.

I just found out that the axles have different part numbers for all brake lines though. :frusty:

It's for a 4Runner right?

The lines still go basically the same way over the axle housing, right?

It's still a 10mm threaded thingy that holds the brake line to the backing plate, right?

It's still 14mm(IIRC) bolts that hold the backing plate to the axle housing, right?

It's still a drum brake system in the back, right?

You'll be fine man. Nothing to worry about, except the ABS thingy I mentioned earlier.
