E-Locker Removal

I might be going to a pick n pull tomorrow that has 2 97's and I'm going to look for a e locker. Does anyone know how hard and long it takes to remove all the necessary components?

What would be needed for a complete removal? Rear diff, front diff, wiring harness, ECU and switch?

It is a long shot, but might be worth it.

If I were you I would just take the whole axle. It's pretty much all bolt on stuff you'd have to take off. It's a 2 man job, so definitely have some help handy and a truck bed to throw it in. As for the computer and wiring, no clue on that stuff.

Also, remember that if you do find one that it might not have the same gears you do. So make sure of that too.

I would love to take the whole axle but I don't have the help and there isn't a way to remove the axle from the vehicle. Im in the market for a 3rd gen and I want a rear locker. I just figured if it was relatively easy enough I might as well try.

If I remember right htere are two wiring harness that come off. both OEM clips.
Just trying to think what is sitting at my GF house after I replaced mine.

as for gearing (dont quote me) but the 5 speed's had 4.10 and the auto had 4:30. at least for my 00.

luckily when I bought the whole axle and swapped it out cause mine rusted. it was the same gearing.

my 5spd has 4:30's ive heard all e lockers had them and to remove it just un bolt the axles slide them half way out then pull the 3rd

If I were you I wouldn't even bother with the OEM electronics...get a wiring kit from 12voltguy.com and call it a day!

Thanks guys for the responses. Turns out I woke up this morning to it pouring rain, so instead of driving an hour each way in the rain for the slight chance for an e locker, I just stayed home and hung out with the baby.
