E-Locker Retrofit Question

I've stumbled upon a factory e-locker from a 96 4runner that I'm thinking of retrofitting into my 85 4runner. THe 96 is an automatic which if I believe means it has 4.30 gear ratio. My 85 is 4.10 ratio.

I'm a novice here so bear with me. Can i just change out the ring and pinion from my diff to change the e-locker to 4.10 gearing? If not, are there other options to make this work? The price is right so i'd hate to pass this up unless it just won't work for me.

Thanks

Dont go by the "I think its a 4.30" They came with many different options depending on factory tire size, tow package, manual hubs..etc..

Your 4.10s will work in the elocker diff, but make sure they are in good shape first, and youll need a set up kit.

Thanks. I'm waiting on a picture of the door jam plate to view the codes and figure out the actual gearing. Maybe i'll get lucky and it will be the same.

I'd say if the price is good and it's complete and working buy it, regardless what ratio it has.

As far as the gears go yes, they can be installed into the e-locker. You can even reuse all the bearings if they are in good shape, it only takes more shimming to get a good pattern.
