I have been reading about Nav systems for sometime, and waiting for bluetooth! Now it here with E7009 I learned that I cannot install it! :( My 03 does not have the JBL but just standard single disc! I have a few questions, I would really appreciate any assistance:

Is it possible to install the digital nav with a JBL digital amp in my truck?

What is the part number for the JBL digital Amp?

Can I or where can I get the harness for digital amp?

Thank you in advance.

- yes, I did it myself on my old 4runner before I replaced it. I had the SR5 non-JBL single disc and I installed the 06 Sienna NAV unit.

What is the part number for the JBL digital Amp?

- Depends, you can get different amp from other toyota's. I don't recommend getting the 4runner amp because:

1. it's hard to come across a 4runner amp from either a late 05 model or 06 model.

2. having only 6 speakers you do not need the other 4 channels the 4runner has to offer. You are better off with a sequoia amp or tundra amp.

Can I or where can I get the harness for digital amp?

- I don't know if you can get the harness by itself as it is wrapped up in the fat harness bundle that runs to the back of the runner along w/ other vehicle wires. Other members have attempted to find the harness but IICR none were succesful in finding one. I built mine from scratch w/ no problems.

PM if you are really thinking about doing the swap. Another member was going to buy my harness and amp but I haven't heard from them since. I have the stuff sitting in my garage.

Thank you in advance.

To use a bluetooth phone with the nav, you also need a microphone. The 2006 4Runner has it built into the sunglass holder.

JBL Amps from other Toyota Models - CAUTION

While JBL amps from other Toyotas (e.g. Tundra, Seqouia, etc.) will work with the Nav headunits in a 4Runner, you should be aware that the equalization curve for the vehicle is built into the amp - not into the headunit. Therefore, if you get an amp from another model and install it in your 4Runner, the equalization won't be quite right.

For some, this may be a minor point or not even audible unless you're purist. But it doesn't hurt to know!

This also explains why Toyota has a long laundry list of part numbers of JBL amps. In fact, the part number for a '05 SR5 Limited is different from that for an '05 SR5 Sport, simply because the equalization curve was tweaked slightly for the leather vs. the cloth interior!

Yup all true. I have a JBL Tundra amp specifically for cloth but the reason why I suggested those amps is becuase the 4runner amp in particular besides the Sienna has a center channel. And althuogh the curves are different for each vehicle at least you won't be ommiting a full speaker location (i.e. - center channel) and thus you would be changing the sound of all you speakers becauase of the lack of center channel. With the seqouia amp and tundra amp I have the locations are very similar so the parameters wouldn't be too far off, but when I threw in the 4runner amp and no center channel it sounded completely different.

more questions!

T4RUSAF,

It sounds like you have already accomplish this task! WooW! Where did you get the pins, and heads for your wiring harness?

Yeah I put that whole setup in my old 4runner and then took it all out when I sold it. I then got a newer runner but already had the JBL pre-installed so didnt' need it anymore.

Getting the pins, connectors, and harness was a different story though. In the process of gettin my system to the way I like it I have acquired 3 4runner amps, 1 seqouia, and 1 Tundra amp, and 3 sub boxes. Some pins I picked up w/ the used amps others came w/ my original setup. But, I was never able to pick up just the connectors/pins. That's where majority of your problem w/ be, finding the pins/connectors. Check ebay.

T4RUSAF,

I found part numbers for the plugs if you can beleive it! I cannot fund a part number for the JBL amp. Do you remember the that worked for you? There are so many part numbers for Toyota JBL amp's and I don't even know which ones are digital which ones are analog. Anything you remember will be helpful. Thank you!

Last time a member tried getting that plug the dealership only sold it in an entire package... something called a 'theft recovery' package for harness's that had been cut. But if you can get your hands on them then that would be awesome.

The amp's that will work for are is any amp after a 2005. The two amps that have the voice out I have here are:

Seqouia: 86280-0C050
Tundra: 86280-0C070

My current 4Runner amp which is an 06 amp I don't remember (sorry!) It's in the car and I'd have to remove my panel, etc. I plan to remove that panel here in a few weeks so I'll get it for you when I rip it open. But both those amps above do not have a center channel so it would be ideal for your current setup.

Oh, btw, I've seen some amps on ebay recently from 4runner's that have this amp 86280-0W150. This DOES NOT have the voice outs that you need.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
