easy speaker replacement suggestions

Can anyone suggest straight swaps for the rear door speakers in a non-JBL runner (2004)? I have three requirements:

1. direct plug'n'play with no need for adapters, spacers etc.
2. decent bass (as decent as it gets for a small speaker)
3. reasonable price (preferably $50-$100 tops)

Any suggestions that will make the rears sound more like speakers and not the muffled garbage they are now will be gratefully received.

1. You're rear door size is 6.75". You will need to get/make adaptors to properly mount your speaks in place. Here's an example.

2. For a speaker that's going to play as loud and clean as possible, you need to find a speaker with a high sensitivity rating (ie 93dB/W). This means that the speaker is more efficient at turning the power into sound. This is especially good when you're going to be running off of the relatively weak headunit power. A recommendation that I can give are the
Infinity Kappa 652.9i. These speakers fit your price range, have a sensitivity of 95dB/W, and are known to have strong low range response.

3. So between the prefab adaptors and the Infinity's, I believe this stays within your budget. Plus, another thing to do is to maybe make sure wherever you're buying your speakers you get a speaker wire harness so don't end up cutting and/or splicing your factory harness.

Also for the future, you may want to check over onto the car audio forum. This kind of question might get quicker and more responses from there.

Thanks for the info and links. A couple of questions... do I need to worry about speaker depth or is the space fine for most standard-depth speakers? Also, you mentioned 6.75" speakers but the ebay adapters talk about 6.5" speakers... any issues there? And finally, why would a wiring harness be needed? I assumed I could just unclip or de-solder the factory speaker and resolder to the new speaker, or does Toyota use some custom connection?

Depth is not really an issue. Our doors are fairly deep.

Shouldn't be an issue.

Factory uses their own harness for the speaker connection. What I mention just keeps things plug and play so you don't have to cut up.
