Easy Ways to Increase Power?

I am wondering what you guys might suggest for relatively easy ways to make modifications to increase power, throttle response, etc.
One thing I was looking into was the JET performance software upgrade- I found it in Performance Products catalog. You have to take out the computer control unit, send it in to the company, they upgrade it, send it back, and supposedly you get 10-13 more horsepower, inncreased throttle response, quicker acceleration, etc. All for ~$300. This seems like a relatively easier, and relatively cheaper (at least compared to a supercharger- if they ever make one for a V6) way to increase performance.
Love to hear people's thoughts on this stuff . . . .

so far it's just exhaust and intake for the v6's. i don't think 10-13 hp is worth the risk of messing up my computer.

I think changing the computer only benifits rides with turbo to boost up the psi, fueling, etc. It's common with VW/Audi's 1.8T and works well with those engines. With n/a like our rides...i don't think chippin' our rides would be worth it, but its all IMO.

I have to disagree

Once you've gotten an upgraded intake whatever type you choose, and gotten your exhaust, whatever kind that may be. And once you feel confident that your not going to be adding different performance parts, then you chip it.

You simply tell Jet what you have, and they create a custom chip for all the mods you have, they will enhance the fuel curve to meet the new lean/rich condition you will be running, and advance the timing a little to compensate for more air and fuel. They also can move your rev limiter around and advance shift points on ecu connected tranny's.

Chips are worth it, but they need to be the last thing you do.

I've had a few chips on Mustangs in the past and once you've modded they compliment the mods well, however if you just throw a chip on a stock vehicle you will get added power, it will jsut be minimal.

Not worth it IMO. Chips are good on older fuel inj. rides or maybe if you are hard core and did actual cam mods. But with the modern Toy engine you already have many benefits. With the ability of the stock computer to "learn" your driving habits plus the vvt-i you can drive the thing hard if you want and it will "remember" your patterns. You already paid for it once and it is factory installed, even after intake and exhaust mods. Why pay for it again only to possibly run hotter and screw up your cats? Then you're really paying it out at the end of the day. Save your money unless you have it to burn.
