Ebat Timing Belt Kit Suggestion/Questions

I am looking to buy one of those Timing Belt Kits off of Ebay so I can do the Timing Belt and Water pump on my own. There are a few out there that come with everything (14 Pieces), which includes the drive belts outside of the motor. I've seen them for $250 or $288. Does anyone have any experience with these kits from Ebay and have any suggestions on who I should purchase one from?

I bought the $288 kit (seller AirCabinMan).

The kit is completely OEM, and good to go. I'd recommend that one. The next one down (think it's 240$?) someone pointed out was all OEM except for one piece.

I recently got the $288 from AirCabinMan. Service was stellar, just waiting for a day off to be able to put it on. I got this one because it was the one The Durk recommended in an earlier thread. Mr. Durk seems to be the authority around here on parts numbers (at least a majority of his posts that I see have parts numbers in them) and that is why I went with his recommendation.

I just took the recommendation from fenrisx, who has suggested it a couple of times. Other 3g'ers have had success with it. It IS all OES and is what I would do if I had to do it now. (OEM technically means Toyota, OES is Aisin or Koyo or other supplier that makes the part that went into the original equipment and therefore the same as OEM, except for the price and the red box.)

I know what is OES because I have the pieces I took out in my spares box. Most of the Rockauto kits above, except the Aisin one, are NOT OES and thus not what I would choose. My original stuff ran 9 years and 120K and I wanted the same parts in this critical application when I swapped them. I actually got mine from PartsGeek.com before we knew about these e-bay kits for a little less. PartsGeek is very good about identifying what is OEM, OES, and aftermarket.

DO NOT use a non-OES part for the timing belt and water pump.

as the previous poster said this its a bad idea if you are in it for the long haul. if you are selling in next two years then sure use the ebay / keagens parts.

I used a non toyota water pump. it only lasted 50k before it started seeping coolant.

dont go cheap on the timing belt or water pump. the difference in parts is probably only 30% pretty cheap compared to the cost of repair for a failed timing belt.

I just bought the same exact kit. Looks identical to the $288 kit, only $38 cheaper. Plus today eBay is having double eBay Bucks so that is $10 to use on eBay in the future.

I don't know for sure. I DO know that the factory idlers that came OUT of mine were NSK and Koyo. PartsGeek.com specifies Koyo and NSK as OE; they do not do so for GMB which they also list for lower prices. Maybe GMB was an alternate supplier, but they didn't make the pieces that lasted so long in my truck. If you look at the picture for the $288 kit, you see a Koyo tension idler box and a NSK upper idler box, which is what my truck was built with.

On the thermostat, PartsGeek specifies Kuzeh as OE--they don't offer Motorad. The Kuzeh looked identical to the one I took out--neither had a manufacturer's ID, just the temp and some numbers.

So I don't KNOW that the $250 is not OE, but I am sure the $288 kit IS and it has the brands I wanted--the ones Toyota put in my truck originally.
