eBay 170amp alternator ?

i installed a high output (175amp) alternator for my old lexus LS400 when i was experiencing charging problems and matched it with an Interstate MegaTron Plus battery. i would recommend a higher output alternator especially if you are running a lot of added driving lights, audio equipment, etc that demand the power.

I'd be a bit cautious considering it states 4runner 96-02 3.0 L v6, but the 96-02 4runners came with the 3.4 L v6. EDIT: I just looked closer at the ad and it spells out the specific models/engines at the bottom.

I went with the CS-144 alternator CS-144 alternator install - YotaTech Forums it's a bolt on change and produces 140amp, 100amp at idle.

i bought this one out of curiosity. the customer service was great but the alternator only lasted 2 months tops. also what was strange to me when i got it was that whenever the vehicle is stopped while in drive the alternator doesnt put out any power. the voltage dropped into the 12v area which i thought was strange. i never got the chance to test the actual amperage output but i dont think it was as advertised. i would advise against it and go with the cs-144. its cheaper and a more robust alternator. plus the 100 amps at idle is pretty nice too.
