Ebay supercharger with CAI.. legit?

Does this really work? I am familiar with CAI and know what a supercharger is and this looks way to simple for a supercharger..if it does work what are ups and the downs..also how much gain do CAI give on a 4runner..mines a 2000 v6 if that helps. Thanks..

a cold air intake should net you between 10-20hp, i dont know what it thinks it does to warrant calling it a supercharger, as it doesnt looked like it could cause and more forced induction than you blowing in front of it. but for the money, research the deckplate mod and the intake silencer removal mod (ISR mod) then look into getting a trueflow filter.

CAIs only produce 7-9whp in ideal conditions. On turbo cars they can free up to 20hp but NA engines it's just doesn't happen.

That product is a joke and should be avoided.

Ya i figured it was..im not new to this..but really 7-9 horses for CAI? thats pretty good..i used to have like a 2000 v6 mustang and the most idealy it would get is like 2hp. Does it really matter what kind of CAI you get or would a Ebay CAI work or do it justice for you car?

you could rig a hair dryer in your intake for same thing but a lot cheaper ha ha

The deckplate is pretty much a free mod and you get the same 6-8whp.

It's just a hole in your airbox that you can reseal for water crossings if you off-road.

Im still a little curious about this product. It seems that it uses an electric fan to 'blow' air down the intake system and create positive pressure, hence forced induction. It claims 15% power increase which would be about 25-30 hp.
So is this product considered crap because it is not possible to produce any significant increase in intake pressure with an electic system? Is it too simple to work with all the variables that occur when driving?
Im not about to run out and buy one, but the physics of it is interesting.....

If this worked you'd see alot more of them and car guys would be raving about them. They simply cannot produce the pressure needed to achieve any negligible HP.

Yeah, I'd avoid at all costs. This 'electric supercharger' idea has been around for 5 years at least. I remember when someone told me to get one to help the 20G turbo on my eclipse spool

Correct, it can't push enough air in to make any sort of measurable gain. Instead however, at high-rpms and even higher speeds (with CAI) it is a restriction to air that is flowing in.
