Ebay Timing belt kit

I going to dive in and do my own timing belt, has anyone used this ebay kit? Are these the same parts I'll get if I order them from Toyota? Thanks guys.

I have not installed it yet, but the parts are pretty good quality.

Yeah, I saw that one too. My acc belts were just done though. Anyone have any idea where you get the sticker for the timing belt cover to show its been changed?

The sticker comes in the box with the factory belt. That's the only place I have seen them.

Sorry to Hijack the thread, but how did installation go with that kit? pretty smooth? I remember your thread and that's where I got the link to that kit, which I bought. I haven't tackled it yet; just haven't a found a full weekend I can devot (sp?) to the task. Plus I don't have the SST and am hoping I can get by without them.

SST..........Special Service Tool

When you look at a Toyota Factory Service Manual(FSM), you will see several references to SST's.

Oh, ok. Does Autozone have any of these on their "tool rentals"?

your really gonna want a tool to hold the crank even if its a 2x4 with some bolts and deff put red thread lock on the crank bolt and go to 210ft lbs is plenty .... and for the tensioner if your replacing it no need for the special tool other than its atleast a day or 2 job .... and the kit i got is been working fantastic everything fit great

Yeah I have read about using a 2x4 or fabricating your own SST, I will probably go the 2x4 route. By the way, Autozone is unlikely to have any SST's for Toyota.

EDIT: but I haven't checked Autozone for SST's so maybe I shouldn't say anything yet!

You can make your own SST fairly easily. I used about a 3/16" piece of steel that was about 18 inches long you need it to rest on the frame rail. Below the frame rail to loosen and above it to tighten. I cut a notch for the torque wrench to fit in and you put 2 holes for some pins. Here is a thread to show you what the pin locations are:

These ebay sellers and other online retailers always specify to let them know if you have the oil cooler tube in the thermostat housing. Is the oil cooler an option for all years or just certain ones?
