Eclise AVN 5510 plug-n-play?

A friend of mine is buying an Eclipse AVN 5510 for her Rav4. I told her I could install it for her. She was planning on buying from Crutchfield, but they told her that she would need to buy a $69.99 harness adapter to make the steering wheel controls work.

I thought the steering wheel controls were plug-n-play for Eclipse navigation systems on Toyotas??? Are the steering wheel controls plug-n-play for our 4Runners?

Another question for those who know:

Does the map display reverse at night when the headlights are on? In other words, does the map itself turn black with the roads appearing white?

That's the way my OEM Toyota navigation looks, which is really nice to avoid a bright glare from the screen at night. My old Acura's factory navigation just dimmed at night, but didn't reverse itself to a black background with white roads like the Toyota navigation.
