Ecotechne traction device hood rack

Curious to know if anyone is running the Ecotechne hood rack? Looks like the newer version ships with mounting brackets/pins? I’m running a full LFD rack and roofnest test, so I’m looking at other locations for maxtrax, the other being in the rear on my baja ladder and the blue ridge overland traction bag.

Visibility is bad enough as it is. I don't think I'd want them on my hood.

There actually may be enough room under the hood to fit them either on the bottom or mounted on top where the engine cover plastic thing is.

Very good point. My 4th Gen 4Runner had a much more sloped hood and the taller 5th Gen hood is making think about a forward facing camera.

I would not want to have my vision blocked as in the picture below

There’s a vendor here who has been working on their version of one of these for a while. I keep asking for it but it still isnt ready. If Ecotechne was here in the US I would of bought theirs though. I just can’t see myself sending $500 to Venezula

i think that general overland is just running a prototype version of it.

and what others said.
screw sending $ to Venezuela not to mention the quality concerns of the product.

I would think it's f**k*ng annoying and obstructive but it looks dope on his wild a** truck.

Personally I would go for something like this. Joe's Original Equipment.

That looks bad ass...is the Joe’s the window mounting platform on the exterior? That only works with the Prinsu.

I did the forward facing camera, I tapped it into factory wiring. It was surprisingly easy. Works great for cresting steep hills. I think it is in my build somewhere

I have them on my 5th Gen...you do lose a touch of visibility, they generate some wind noise, and have a fair amount of flex in the horizontal members when running rough roads. The rack was on my 5th gen when I bought it, so I'm not sure of what the actual mileage difference would be with and without. I haven't had the desire to look at another mounting option yet though, as space on the roof is limited when the RTT and storage box go on.
