Ok i have searched and checked every efi related prob i can find and still can not find a solution. Heres the prob drove about 5 miles turned around and soon as i hit pavement the truck died in traffic found the efi fuse blows as soon as i turn the key to on it blows if i pull the efi relay out it dosent WTF?! ive torn through almost every part of elec system and no luck. can someone please give me an idea i have narrowed it down to the drivers side kick panel (or under dash) and am still looking its cold, and its the only transport for my family.

there is the wiring diagram ....

If it only pops when the relay is in place we know the problem is on the other side of the relay (assuming the relay isn't full of water or something causing the problem itself). On the outlet side of the relay power is distributed to:

Fuel pump (via another relay)

The ECU itself

Mass airflow sensor

VSV (3)

data link connector

both o2 sensors

So I would start by unhooking all of those items and see if you have a grounded wire. If not start plugging them in one at a time and see where the problem is.

Ok so far i checked-

ecu
o2 / both
mass air
was going to check more but was getting too cold out, so far it still blows as soon as i turn key to on hope the vsv or data link will show some thing in morning :ybrick:

It had bad corrosion under it. Reason being I belive is that I have the newer hood with the factory. Scoop or bulge but can't for some reason find the insert anywhere so it gets a bit damp should have kept factory hood for spare duh

hmmm ... always the last thing you look at for sure. Hopefully I don't have a problem with mine. I did actually open the scoop up on mine to allow some heat to escape after I changed the intake out for my battery install. I have had an extra ground running from the batter to the intake right there for a while as well though.

Glad you got it fixed.

yes for about 300 im a broke ***** when it comes to hundreds other than what my family needs but as for truck "budget build" like to find it for under a hundred

none just the mesh on the outside is all i got from toyota so far they keep trying to sell me the whole hood with all the insert parts and all where can i look?? also thanks for the help

will do thanks i guess the guy here at my local dealership was trying to make his vacation cash lol, any way update on the efi prob i got stranded yet again about 1.5 miles from home and the grounds that i had cleaned started up again. what i did to fix was seperate the two connectors one had 4 wires and the other had one took the one wire and grounded it behind the diagnostic box bracket fired right up and went home. I explained this so if you see anyone else with this prob it would be an area to check will post pic if needed, and by the way thanks for your help so far

How does a bad ground effect the EFI fuse? I have a 93 3.0 and it's blowing the EFI with every attempt at starting.
O2 sensors wires are fine. Replaced Relays, new fuel pump, disconnected AFM and VSV. No change.
Only blows when starting and not in the on position. I'm extremely frustrated. Swapped the Computer and no change.
I'm going nuts here. I can't find anything wrong but as soon as you turn the key and the starter is turning it blows the EFI FUSE.
any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You have a short in the wiring harness or a short in an injector. Granted you may have better luck in the 2nd gen section. As this is the 3rd gen subtopic ...,:)

There can be a ground short in an injector? Didn't know that was possible. So a bad injector can cause this? So the plenum intake has to come off. To check those wires or put in new injectors. I didn't know an injector could short out. Anyone else have any ideas? Is this because it only blows during start up that you think it could be a bad injector? Thanks so much.
