EGR Accessories

Has anyone tried EGR accessories on their 4Runner? I'm interested in the bug shield and the in-channel window visors. I have a 2004 sport edition 4 Runner. I did have a EGR bug shield
on my 99' Tacoma and did not have any regrets. Any advice or personnal experiences would be appreciated!

I just ordered a set of EGR vent visors for the 04 Liberty Limited we just traded the other half's 01 Exploder for, so I'll let you know what I think of them when they arrive.

Unfortunately I couldn't afford a 2nd 4runner, and she wanted a newer vehicle-- so we got a great deal on the Liberty thru a friend of ours who works at a dealer-- and it only had 12K mi on it. But just to be safe, I opted for a 100Kmi extended warranty which he sold us at his cost. Afterall, it is a JEEP.

I have the 3D carbon fiber EGR bug and stick-on window deflectors on my Taco (six years) and they are top quality and look GREAT!

In-channel visors

I'm really seeking info for the in-channel visors! Are they worth it??

I have the weathertech in-channels. They are great. Just becareful putting them in. You have to bend them a little to get them in. If it snapps back, the edges are a little sharp. They will gash the rubber or plastic around the window.

The in-channel ones look better but after a few years I've heard more than a few complaints about rattling when the window's down and a few people reported them falling out. I'm sure they've improved the designs for all vehicles but be aware.

I have the AVS ones that adhere with 3M tape and should stay put unless smacked or purposely removed. My friend removed his off of his S10 after 5 years and removed the sticky residue left behind with some 3M Adhesive Remover and the paint didn't incur any damage which surprised me.

I had a smoked plexi-glass EGR rear air deflector on my '97 and it was top notch in fit and finish and looked better than the OEM version and now I have to get one for my '99.

Just installed the EGR vent visors on our 04 Liberty and they went on in less than 5 mins. The front ones fit snugly and are held in place by the rubber molding at the lower front of the window near the mirrors. The rears had very thin adhesive strips that I assume will grip the inside of the window channel. They look very good and overall I'm happy with them. I also have the AVS visors w/ the 3M tape on my 4R. Looks fine, but I may invest in a set of the canadian style visors down the road.
