So i have a 91 4runner 3.0 5 speed manual with 240,000. and now the check engine light has been turning on and off, i waited till it came on and did the paperclip trick and got a code 71 (EGR temp). so first of all i was wondering what i should do to fix this; is replacing the EGR unavoidable? Also i have been having some MAJOR power issues, and i know that power issues are normal with the 3.0, but this goes above and beyond. it seems to act on the lower end of reasonibly, until i hit a steep hill, at which point i have to take it down to the perfect speed (sometimes hard to find) because if i floor it or even just push it too hard it will just slow down faster, at this point it would be reasonable to down shift so i do but it just keeps slowing down and down until im crawling at between 5-10 miles per hour. so to summarize the problem, if i floor it in a high stress situation then its almost guarenteed that i will end up going slower then if i just kept it at half throttle. so could these two problems be connected?
