Electric 4wd vehicle?

does anyone know if there are any electric 4wd vehicles? It would be cool If a company could make electric hub wheels that could bolt on in a similar way to how those tank tread things bolt on. then you could get rid of the engine and fill the bay with batteries. with a motor for each wheel you would have complete control over each wheeel(no lockers needed) and you could have a lot better ground clearance since you wouldnt have to have an axle running between the wheels, but you could have the suspension of the wheels on opposite sides linked in a higher spot so that you could get the same articulation as with a solid axle. also electric motors have a lot more torque at low speeds. ideally you would have a small generator like they did in top gear to charge up the batteries. each bolt on wheel would need its own brake because it probably wouldnt be compatible with the stock brakes though. thoughts?
