electric antenna popped out

Hi,
My electric antenna comes up automatically when I turn on the radio. It usually stops when the antenna is fully extended, but yesterday it didn't stop, it just kept feeding the antenna up and out of the housing completely... onto the ground.

The antenna itself is intact, but it looks like just the little guard piece that keeps it in its housing is missing. What I'm wondering is, do I need to replace the entire assembly, or can I just replace the guard piece? I can take a pic and post it tomorrow if that is helpful. Thanks.

BTW this is a 2002 4Runner Sport Edition.

Hi,

There is usually a locking ring that screws onto the top of that assembly which keeps it all together. Look around to see if the ring came off when the whole thing came out. If so, you should be able to screw it back on, if not then you can find a used ring somewhere I am sure.
