I own a 2000 4Runner Limited. When I turned on the radio today the antenna did not go up. I could hear the antenna motor trying to work and it was much louder than normal. It pushed it up about 4 inches and then stopped. I then played with the antenna and found I could very easily pull it up with my fingers. When I turned the radio off I again heard the motor but nothing happened.
I am not that familiar with electric parts of the vehicle. First I would ask if anyone has experienced this. It looks like you have to remove the fender to get to the motor. Is this correct? Besides a dealer, where else would I be able to take this to have it repaired. I normally try to fix things myself but I do not want to take the car apart on my own.
I would appreciate any thoughts or advice.
