Electric motor noise when coming to a stop??

Anybody else get this? it's like a small electic motor comes on if I come to a hard stop, or brake quickly...

Is it something resetting itself? sounds like it's coming from under the dash...

Could it be the antilock resetting itself? or the seatbelt tightener loosening itself maybe???

Any ideas? does anybody else get this?

It might be the ABS/ panic-stop system getting ready in the event it needs to react...

Correct. Electric brake booster pump for the brake assist feature. This pump also cycles regularly to give you normal power brakes. The T4R doesn't use a vacumn booster.

Will it do it less often if I replace my front pads? they're a little low...

Replaced the rears back in August so they are fine...

I remember getting a heck of a lot more pedal feel when I replaced my worn fronts on my 2nd gen... went from sponge to rock...

But the pedal feels perfect in my 4th gen... even with low pads.

Hah, yeah... then I need to move...

I see Volvo has a pretty cool "IDIOT-PROOF" traffic braking, so you dont hit the car in front of you while you change your radio, eat your burger, pick your nose, etc...

I'm getting this even when I slightly press on the brakes. Any suggestions? I'm pretty high mileage, so I want to head off any looming breakdowns.
