So up here in Southern Ontario we got a LOAD of rain today, it rained all day. My truck's rear hatch has a rust spot on the bottom right of the window by the seal and a few weeks ago I took to fixing it. I didn't completely finish and didn't get a chance to seal it. So after work today, I go out to my truck, drive home and i hit the lock button and it doesn't lock! So I try like 30 times and nothing is happening. So I long press on the window down key on the remote, sure enough it works! Okay hmmmm, so it's still drizzling and i get back in and try to close the hatch. NOTHING. Uh oh, the window lock isn't pressed nothing is working. When i went back a few hours later, my lock button worked ONCE and never again (my lock cylinders are all seized so that was a fun crawl through the rear window). When I hit unlock, it didn't work at first press but it was delayed a second or two. So here I am now, in the middle of wet Canadian winter with my rear window completely down and my locks malfunctioning. I need someones help. None of the fuses seem to be dealing with the hatch so I really think everything is just soaked and needs to dry off.
Can anyone enlighten me on this situation? Tailights, license plate lights, hatch motor all work and the window up/down rocker, rear defrost, rear wiper, and remote lock/unlock don't work.
This is a 2000 SR5. I glanced at the wire harness going into the hatch but I don't think that's it because the window motor is still functioning, it's just not receiving signal to operate. Also, my lights dim when I use any windows and they don't when I press the rear window up button so obviously it's not even trying. (Which might be a good thing, rear window motors are $900 oem.)
