Electrical issues after dealer worked on my new TE

I took my new truck back to the dealer so they could replace a couple of body panels that had scratches when I took delivery. The two parts were the passenger side front fender flare and the black part of the upper grill. I also had them install my new 5100s up front.

Picked it up yesterday and around 6:30 p.m. the alarm started going off. I used the remote and turned it off. Friday morning when I started it to go to work the clock was set back to 12:00. Then tonight at right around the same time the alarm went off again. A few hours later I jumped in to run an errand and the clock was reading 3:45 so it appears that it reset again when the alarm went off.

Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? Are there any electrical lines that the techs could have cut or shorted somehow? I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow but figured maybe someone here would have seen this before.

Thanks for any help,
Tom

Here's a new pic with the 5100s installed at the 1.75" setting.

Did you check to make sure the connections on the battery were tight? I'd start there before calling the dealer.

To expand a little on loose connections - I would also check for a loose ground wire. May be under the head of a screw or bolt or hanging loose somewhere.

Just disconnected the battery to reset the system. Hopefully this fixes it.

Gratuitous pic with the new shoes...

Think it's fixed!

Just got back from the dealer here's what they found.

1. The stability and traction control lights were most likely caused by an issue in the steering angle sensor circuit. There was a loose pin in the fuse box.

2. The alarm issue was most likely caused by the previous dealer (my truck was a dealer transfer). It seems they did a partial install of an aftermarket alarm. My dealer ripped all that out.

I had never heard of dealers installing 90% of an alarm and then trying to sell it to the customer later. The service manager told me that it's not that unusual.

So now I'm left with a decision. There was a small plate on the lower left of the dash that was part of that alarm. After the removal it left two small screws in it's place.

My dealer will replace the panel if I want them to but I was thinking "what could I put there that would use those two screws?". So I told them to wait on ordering the replacement panel.

Here's a pic of the screws.

sounds like payback for the Super Bowl

Honestly.....all of their reasons sound like typical dealer BS reasons that allow them to tell you they fixed it without really doing anything.

That's always a possibility but not sure what that would gain them. I would just keep bringing it back for them to fix and eventually get Toyota Corporate involved if necessary.
