I bought this wiring kit, and spent a few hours today just looking at how to go about installing it. You know, making sure I know where each wire connects to and the wire routing, etc.
So I figured out where all the new wires go, but I am not entirely sure what to do with the OEM wiring that gets replaced. There seems to be a wiring harness assembly for the OEM wires. The way I see it, there are three options with what to do with this OEM wire harness assembly:
1. Remove the OEM wiring harness altogether. Run the new wires in place of it.
2. Leave it in place, and just leave the OEM wires not connected to anything. Run the new wires next to it.
3. Try to disassemble the OEM wiring harness. Replace the OEM wires inside it with the new upgraded wires. Reassemble the wiring harness.
So what do you suggest to do with the OEM wiring harness? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You are spot on with your options for sure. It is entirely up to you how you go about taking care of the factory wiring. I have customers who both totally remove it, and others who tape up the ends against itself and leave it there. I also have some that disassemble the factory harness and just swap out the new cables. It is entirely up to you how you want to do this. I designed these Kits so that the options would be available for you. Thanks. And if you do have any other questions, please feel free to contact me! I am here to help.
Thanks for the response. I guess I'm concerned about the wiring protection that the OEM harness provides. I would hate to lose that protection for the new wires. Especially where the starter wire gets routed around the oil pan. There is a hard plastic container (as part of the OEM harness) that the starter wire fits into. If I didn't put the new starter wire in that plastic container, would the heat from the oil pan damage the new wire?
What do you recommend for protecting the wires from abrasion, heat, etc?
I would certainly recommend routing the Stage 1 Cable Kit in the factory harness protective casing. It would protect it from excessive heat and other damaging concerns.
Are we all caught up here? I've read lots of complaints in this thread & the 3rd Gen section about time. My 16 yo original Alt is just about ready to shit the bed & I'd like to put a Stage 2 in. 99 3RZ.
LMK Bill,
Thanks,
Mike
Bills sets are really nice, work is professional and clean. Yes he had some complaints but all in all he made a ton of sets, had a ton of happy customers it's just unhappy people like to make the most noise, and try and cause future business to go elseware because they are not happy.
I had a wonderful experience with this group buy and would recommend anyone to Bill for any upgrade needed.
yea, I understand there were a lot & I really want a stage 2. Bill seems like a nice guy but I just went through the Tacoma World thread & it was 6 months of the same excuses & no reply's to PM & e-mails. That's a long time.

Bill,
I'll buy a stage 2 right now but I need the Alt by next Sat & you can send the cables later. Any chance for Blue insulation instead of red?
Thanks,
Scramble
I would love to take your order and get it taken care of. Yes, I have had a long time working on the group buy. The biggest problem that I had was getting supplies. That much cable and parts turned into a nightmare, and when right in the middle my computer crashed it just made things worse. I haven't tried to make excuses, I have owned up to not getting these out in time and getting things completed in a timely manner. Things happen, and in a small business, when something goes wrong it can cause major problems. I am still sadly trickling out more of those orders as I recover data and get responses back from customers. It sucks on my end to. The end result for me has been that I lost money on the group buy. Now the kits I am finishing up on are coming out of my own pocket. I can't blame a customer because I had problems on my end. I just do what I can to get things done. It's all I can do.
How do we go about claiming warranty? My alternator just crapped out

Warranties with the alternator are taken up directly with the manufacturer. If you would send me your order information I can get the invoice number and will get you the contact information. However they will need more information other than it "crapped out" Did you have it tested at an auto parts store? (These are usually done for free) What is the voltage at the battery terminal with the engine running?
PM'd you sir, thanks for the quick response!
