I've been driving around recently with the stereo off and noticed a faint electronic "chirping" sound coming from somewhere in the dash of my 04 SE. Despite being faint, it's one of those noises that just keeps bugging you until you can't ignore it. It's a long shot, I know, but does anyone know what it might be?

Could it be the ABS on the other side of the firewall?

Is this all the time, or only under certain conditions... If this is all the time, I can't imagine would this would be unless you are getting some electronic noise through the speakers, but then you would also here the noise in the back seat too...
It could be some interference through the tweeters in the front cabin. I'm going to have to get my girlfriend to try and pinpoint it. She'll love that... I already use her to pinpoint rattles, much to her chagrin!
Would it be possible that the speaker cables are picking up some alternator whine or static, even with the stereo off?

Cell phone maybe? Sometimes I get funny sounds like a "shsssit" sound from my PC speakers and in the car. The first time was in my Camry taking it home and I almost freaked out that there was rattle or something with a brand new car.

OK, finally figured out what it is... the ventilation system's fan! Whenever the fan is on it generates this strange ringing/chirping noise, which is very obvious if the engine's off and the stereo's off (which is how I eventually identified it).
I'm not sure if it's actually a noise from the fan or if the fan is somehow creating interference through the speakers.
Anyone have any ideas how to cure it

The latter is a symptom of a bad blower motor, which has been experienced on a few other 2004 Toyota/Lexus products. However, if it were the blower motor problem, the noise wouldn't change with the speed of the truck. You can't really hear it unless the fan is on "Lo" and the radio is off, but it is pretty constant. If the fan is any higher, the rushing air hides the noise.

It seems to be fairly constant but it not so much a whining noise as a very faint, high-pitched ringing noise. It sounds more or less the same at all speeds but seems to come and go (although that could just be my perception). My fan is usually on Lo all the time.
Is there any other check I (or the dealer) can do to see if it actually is the blower motor? My car's out of warranty in 4K miles, so ideally I wanna get it checked out soon.

If you can reproduce it consistently, then take it to the dealer and get them to listen to it. I had the blower motor problem on my 04 RX 330; I could make it very obvious by turning off the radio, turn off the A/C button (to eliminate that as a possible cause), and override the climate control to put the fan on Lo. When I did that, it sounded like a pretty constant whining noise, like another car near you had a bad fan belt. (That's what I thought it was at first, until the noise followed me!)
The only TSB that I've seen for this was issued for the 04-05 Sequoia, Sienna, and Tundra, but the exact same thing is happening on other models, too, including the RX 330.

High pitched whining/ringing sound
I have a 2004 Toyota 4Runner V8.
So, the airbag warning light has come on a few times but doesn't remain every time. Now I'm getting a high pitched whine/ringing come on after a few minutes driving but no warning lights (I have a short video with the sound and dashboard, with the warning lights of the door, tire and seatbelt. The door light is on because the hatch won't seal (broken window replaced and it's rusted shut). The tire light has been on and off. The seatbelt light because I unhooked while recording). Truck manual said warning lights will come on at the same time as a buzzer (warning sound), this is not even close to a buzzer.The stereo, temp control, any other switch are all off as well. The sound is more prominent on the drivers side top dashboard. Can't hear it outside or with the hood up and I checked all fluids (except for under the truck) and they are all good. Fuse panel seems okay but I haven't actually removed any fuses to see if the noise stops and the panel is under the dashboard on the left side of the steering column. Some blogs say something about the ECU but as far as I can tell, the ECU is under the glove box which is on the passenger side dashboard. Doesn't matter if the truck is in motion or parked. When I turn off the engine, sound stops. Sometimes it only takes about 2 minutes for it to start.

Mine has a high pitched noise that sounds like an old CRT TV. It's there basically all the time, but it's most noticeable when I'm not moving. Since it's high pitched, the loudness depends on where my head is. It turns out it comes from the tweeters even if the stereo is off (I have JBL and navigation). Apparently the amplifier is always on and amplifying some interference.

Yesterday I was sitting in my truck and the key was in the ignition (off position). When I removed the key, a flashing light of a car appeared on the panel beside the radio (where the passenger seatbelt flashes). I put the key back in and it stopped. Would I just need go reset the anti-theft alarm system?

This is normal, read your owner's manual, the flashing "car" light indicates your anti-theft alarm system is functioning correctly when your key is not in the switch, the light goes off when the properly programed key in inserted into the switch and is recognized by the anti-theft alarm system and thusly disabling the system, your key has a chip in it that is programed to your T4R's anti-theft alarm system.
If you have another key made for your T4R it will have to be properly programed for it to disable the anti-theft alarm system for the new key to be able to start your T4R.

Thanks, I remembered that light coming on when I remove the key. Just hasn't done that for quite a while. Sorry for bugging y'all. I may have figured out why that ringing/alarm was coming on. I filled my tires (mainly one was really low) to the pressure needed and since then, no more alarm. I was told by my dad that the tire sensors have batteries. If that's my issue, then others who have that noise and/or need to reset their pressure, this may help. Now I have to figure out how to open my hatch due to it being rusted shut.
