Electronic gauge

I want to find an electronic unit that just plugs in to my OBD2 port and give a bunch of different info like trans temp, oil psi, etc.. Is there a unit that other have used and like or one that u someone can recommend? I want someone I can just leave mounted and connected.

I like the look of the bullydog one but i don't need or really want the tuning option I just want the gauges them selves. Plus it's a little pricier than I want.

I have been looking at getting this one and I know some on here have used it. Not sure if it does everything you are looking for.

Chris(4RunnerAzGuy), for 1k dollars you are paying for the Bully Dog unit, you can get quite a few of the scan gauge units!!!
Heck even the Android app "TORQUE"(less than $5 dollars in the play store) plus the Bluetooth Dongle(Which runs about $15-30 dollars on amazon/eBay) can do wonders...
 
Not sure if you are an iOS user, but there is a pretty good iPhone/iPad app for pretty cheap that will cover a lot of needs and meet the price requirement:

Also, was looking into this for myself after reading a very good write up in this month's Mac|Life:
Automatic - Your Smart Driving Assistant

It has a plug in device that stays put and sends reading to your iOS device every time you turn on/off the vehicle and gathers live data while you drive, it's under a $100 too.

Thats exactly what I'm looking for and at the price I wanted to spend. I'll probably order that one tonight.

Yea I like that for my phone or ipad but I want something that I can leave mounted with constant gauges. I feel like if I get it for my phone like that I won't use it because I'll be using the phone for music and other stuff
 
If you have an extra device like a phone or ipod touch you can order one of these.

I ordered one and was pretty impressed with the about of information given for a small price. It takes a little setting up but once you get it the way you'd like it’s pretty neat.

The application is only $5 from the Google ap store and there is plenty of documentation on here and the software site to get pretty gritty with it.
 
I have an UltraGauge and it is an awesome tool and is easy to customize. I chose it over the ScanGauge because it has a much better screen (it is able to display up to 8 parameters vs. 4 for the SG), and was a much better bang for the buck at around $70. Be aware though; if transmission temperature is important to you, the UG cannot display it at this time, while the SG can (with a little programming by the user).

Actually monitoring trans temp is one of the big reasons I want one. I still like the ultra gauge though for everything else. I wish the scan gauge was laid out like the ultra gauge and it would be perfect. I'll still probably get the ultra gauge and then get something else for trans temp

ScangaugeIi does it just fine, I use one to monitor tranny temps when pulling my trailer.
 
I actually think I'm going to get both just because there are things I really like about both of them, plus after always having unreliable vehicles for Overlanding and off-roading I have a thing with wanting to have gauges for everything so I can see what's going on lol.
 
Here's where I have my UG mounted (with velcro) so I can glance at it at the same time as the other gauges:

I'm seriously considering picking up an SG eventually for the same reasons. They both have great features and the ability of the SG to see the transmission temp when towing would be great.

I may be the only person here who's running both the SGII and the UG.

UG is on my DD Mazda Pickup. Since it has a manual tranny, the UG is great.

SGII is on my T4R, since monitoring transmission temps is one of the main reasons I got it.

I posted a review of both of them, pluses and minuses, on this board a couple of weeks ago. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Here's a pic of the SGII mounted right above the steering wheel on my 4runner. Mounting it this way you can hide the cable under the dash. Notice the upper left gauge: TFT: Transmission Fluid Temperature.

Yea actually since I'm going to get the scan gauge and the ultra gauge I'll probably mount the scan gauge in that spot above the steering wheel just because it's not as tall as the ultra gauge. I'm just not sure which
