ELM327 OBDII observations

I bought a cheap Bluetooth OBDII reader and scrolled through to see what the sensors were reporting.

I first noticed that the 4Runner does not report a transmission temperature. In comparison, I have another vehicle that does. Has anyone been able to get a reading (from any system) or will this require me to add a sending unit?

Second, I set up a dashboard to see some values while driving. One of which was timing advance. I have been running premium in it and I wanted to poll the audience for someone who has been able to observe timing advance using regular gas.

Idle: 16 degrees
25 MPH cruise: 26 degrees
High load, high gear: 32-34 degrees

The high load / high gear was an uphill grade in which it maintained speed (45 MPH) and maintained gear (5th). This is the farthest I was able to observe timing advance on premium gas.

There are two transmission temp sensors, one being for the torque converter. The right software will pick those up.

I use OBD Fusion to monitor transmission temps when towing. I purchased the Toyota PID package. Temp 1 is in the pan. Temp 2 is in the torque converter. I’ve never looked at the timing.
