Emblem Placement Opinion

Well I finally found an emblem that I liked, and picked up a pair off of ebay for about $13. They're off of a late 70's early 80's AMC Eagle/Jeep. You can see in the first pic the size of it compared to a pack of mentos I plastidipped it to match my other emblems, and shaved the pins off the back so I wouldn't have to drill any holes during installation. I'm getting ready to get it final prepped so I can put it on, but I can't decide where I like it best.

Here's where i'm looking for the opinions of my fellow members. Do you like the front fender placement, or the front door placement? I thought I had it figured out, and still think I may be leaning towards my original thought, but wanted to get some other opinions before making my final decison.

I was looking at the 4th gens "Sport Edition", until I realized they were all individual letters. Trying to reinstall that and make it look right just seems like a nightmare waiting to happen. I've always thought the 3rd gens needed just a little something/something on the sides. 2002 style

It looks a little out of place on the door and quarter panel, I would put it on the back of the truck - unless you already have one there. My '98 does not have the 4WD emblem on the tail...

I thought about centering them up on the front and rear bumper as an option, but I do already have the 4runner/SR5/4wd emblems on the back, as well as the "toyota" sybol on the grill and the center of the rear gate, so I was thinking that may just be to much overload on the front/back, while the sides would still be plain

I was watching west coast customs or some such show the other day and they use a magnetic laser level for lining up the graphics and such. May make you rethink doing one from a 4th gen Runner instead.

I think it's pretty much assumed that a Runner is 4wdrive, but to each his own and it's going to be a unique touch you may appreciate.

I agree. the sides are too blank for how much information toyota put on our trunk hatches. Also I don't like having to walk around to the back just to see the specs of a vehicle(SR5 vs Limited, 4WD equipped etc). Like how the 4th gens only have the trim designation on the doors and not the back, I wanna be able to know what the vehicle is if I'm say, sitting behind it in traffic. I can't just get out of the car and walk up beside it, just to see if its a Limited or an SR5...

My 2002 sr5 does not have a 4wd emblem on the rear hatch. Did they typically come with them or not? I've seen some with and some without.

Should be that any 4x4 4Runner from 99-02 has the 4wd logo.

Maybe someone took it off? Possibly the hatch might have been replaced with one from a 2WD? Pics would help.

Far as I know, my 97Ltd never came with one.

I'm about to remove the "limited" and "Toyota" myself. Seems like way too much going on already — I can't imagine having 5 emblems back there.

yep, makes sense, all the 96-98's didn't come with a 4wd logo at all.
