4runner dead

Well i've been experinencing a couple problems lately with my truck..... the starting of the truck and the brakes..... well kinda

1. so anyways ive been having problems starting my car and now it wont start... at first i thought it was the battery or the alternator but everything turned on and generated just fine.... pretty much ive been experiencing the truck cranking to start and not starting all the way.... sometimes it would try to start or it would start and then stall and usually i would jus rev it up a lil bit to make it start fine... or it would just crank and make a loud click noise..... maybe its the spark plugs or starter maybe? ive been looking to take it to a shop but now everything went bad and it wont even start anymore
all it does is crank and try to start but i cant even hear the engine trying to start..... help please!!!!!

2. now this is weird.... when i got my truck to start up... especially very early in the morning.... the very first minute i pull out of my neighborhood i would brake and there would be a really loud noise..... kinda sounded like a noise when a big rig would stop..... but when driving it felt like something was grinding... or maybe its just the brake pads i dont know..... ive only experienced it happening maybe like 5 times through out this whole time ive been experiencing my start up which has been going on for a couple months now.... then ive experienced when stopping i would let go of the brake and the truck would not even move!!! then i would gas and my truck would jerk and then go.... felt like i was driving a manual tranny or something.

but yeah its really weird how these things have been happening.... and especially because it just had full service maintanice at toyota about a month or 2 ago.... timing belt. sprk plgs. tranny oil flush and change. motor oil flush and change. and some other things... when i had the starting problem they said it might be the idle speed control valve but i dont think thats it..... what would it be? CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Take it back!! They screwed something up. Your brake issue may be due to a faulty/stuck caliper.
 
For problem 1, When you try to start it, do you hear it click but not try to crank the engine? My friends 98 did the same thing. He just had to replace his starter contacts. I guess its pretty common after a lot of miles, his has 180,000 or so. It was like a $30 fix and some time to remove the starter.

How many miles on the clock? Hopefully thats all it is because it was easy.
 
ok yeah mine has been doing the exact same thing..like it will click like 5-10 times before it starts it drives me crazy and its a tad embarrissing with a ladyy in the car;):

Hi, i started having this problem since i took to Discount Tires to get my tire fixed. It won't crank the first time, and now not even on the 3rd try. But eventually it comes on. My bro says that it could be that they put your truck in Gear and then pushed it that could cause the fly wheel not to align with the starter. Now i have to either get my starter replaced or like i just read in the thread, i would have to get my starter contacts changed.

Also check the inside of the rims and the place where the axle bolts to the axle housing for diff oil it could be the drum shoes are all gunked up from the bearing grease and diff oil leaking past the axle seals.
 
make sure ur pads on the rear breaks are good... i ahve had problems w/ drums locking up because of getting too hot. not only on car but 4wheelers and gocarts

its deff the starter
