I spent an hour taping and painted it still attached. Use a piece of cardboard when spraying to block areas you dont want painted.

You know they say "measure twice, cut once", I say "tape twice, paint once". It's all in the details...

One of my favorite colors for the 4th gen. Very tastefully modded.

I missed out on getting a pacific blue 4x4 for 9 grand 2 months before I bought mine....

9 Grand? Thats sick. My only holdback with this one is that its lacking 4x4. Guess I'll get a big ass winch...

I really wasn't too happy when I pulled off the lot in the "Baby Blue" 4Runner. But after the all-terrains, brushguard, tint and stereo overhaul, I think I've added a little beef to the ride.

Actually.. I'm really interested in a paint job. I'm thinking "Forest Green". Kinda that dark green metallic. I don't know if I've ever seen that color on a 4th Gen, but it looks awesome on Tundras and Land Cruisers.

@Silent Auction - Thanks. I like the Falken Rocky Mountains. They're a very smooth ride, but I feel like the tread is wearing a little faster than normal. Got a hell of a deal at Discount Tire for all 4.

@TLUU - The type 194 wedge base bulbs represent the majority of the light fixtures inside the 4Runner. Besides that are two 31MM Festoon Bulbs (dome lights). If you wanted to be really thorough, you can also get bulbs for the vanity mirrors and the glove box (I haven't yet).

So...

Type 194:
4x Each door
2x Map Lights
2x License Plate Lights

31MM Festoon:
2x Dome Lights

I prefer all of my lights to be 100% white. No blue or bluish tint. This white color is indicative of any light burning at a temp. of 5000 Kelvin. Other temperatures; 6000K, 8000K and 10000k means you are getting Blue, Ultraviolet and Purple lights respectively.

Hands down the best deal on these Type 194 LED's is on Amazon:

Thats 10 bulbs for $15. More than you need. All ten worked and have continued working. Crystal White, very even light output and easy installation.

For the festoon bulbs I purchased some crappy off Blue ones I thought would be good on Amazon. Here is a link so you can avoid them! (Unless you're going for 6000k interior, in which case, they are pretty damn bright blue). LINK TO 31MM 6000k Festoon Bulbs on Amazon. Anyway, since they completely blow, I tossed em and have since ordered another pair ($8 on Amazon). Evidently its hit or miss, but for 1/4 of the price compared to vLeds and superbrightleds, I'll try Amazon anyday!



I'll have pics of my interior up soon. BE WARNED: Once you do the LED bulb swap, you really want try the LED Cluster/Gauges swap.

Looks good, and I agree with the LED stuff. I'm itching to do the cluster swap but don't have the time or patience to do it and hope to God I don't screw it up! I would recommend doing the glove box and vanity lights -- not that we care how bright they are but when you've got a female in the passenger seat who happens to need the mirror at night, those LEDs really help. I've gotten a few kind remarks about how much they like them and it helps!!! :guitar3:

Ok, so after seeing all the "Lift and Tire Central Pics", I decided that I really wanted to go with a Daystar 2.5/1.5.

The list price for this on Amazon is $160.


I decided to try out "Supreme Suspensions" an Ebay based company. I purchased the front "coil spring spacer kit" (2.5") for $65 bucks.

Then for the rear, I purchased the Daystar 1.5" Rear Coil Spring Spacer Kit from Amazon.com. $44 bucks.

SO..... same kind of spacers, but different brands. Together $110. Saves you $50 bucks.

Haven't got them yet, but hopefully Supreme Suspensions won't let me down.

Do Coil Spacers cause your springs to wear out faster?

I found a 1" coil spacer at AutoZone for $5 and the guy there said it was the same thing as a Daystar spacer kit. He said both would "Change the angle of the arm and put increased wear on the tires and springs." Is he re****ed? Or is there some truth to this? I'm new to suspension....

Yeah, there is some truth to this. It DOES change the geometry of the suspension, which COULD increase tire wear. That is why you always have your alignment done post lift.

Chop it and turn it man! I considered repainting but went the other route and it's been one of my most satisfying mods to date.

Found a big ass site where they're developing a 400 home neighborhood outside of Austin, Texas. Decided to pull the running boards and hit the dirt hard.

I was tempted to throw the windows down because it was 4-20 and we were close enough to hear the Willie Nelson Concert @ The Backyard.
