Engine and transmission question

I have a 99 sr5 5vz-fe with a a340F 30-40le auto transmission. From what I understand the same motor and transmission from a 2000 will not work? I'm not sure why but everywhere i read says it won't. These are both California emission vehicles. Both have 5th digit as N. Can somebody confirm this?

Pretty sure 01-02 and 96-00 are the patterns. I just replaced the transmission on my 01, and I had to find one from a 01-02 for the swap. While the transmission will bolt it the valve bodies are different.

Should be fine.

The 3.4 block is the 3.4 block.

In 99 they changed injectors, so the 99-00 should be the same.

01 they changed the TB.

99-00 transmissions are the same.

Might have to change out a couple sensors, but everything should plug up fine.

I saved every single sensor I could get my hands on from the transmission and engine for these exact circumstances. I knew the motor would be aright. I also know the 01-02 are in their own boat. I just have been finding this weird grey area with the 2000 transmission. The transfer case on the donor 2000 4Runner has the same J transfer case as my runner.

I can't find much info on this either as I have a 2002 and need a replacement transmission. I have found a 2000 model but I can't find anything saying if it work or not. Anyone know for sure?
