Hey all,

Im a newb to this site. Awesome information on here so far. Quick question, i have a 96' 4x4 SR5 Lmtd. the engine has abo 170k on it. I have seen so many people with about 260k on theirs. How can I get mine to last that long. So far on my agenda is to change the spark plugs. I regularly change the oil every 3k. I dont think the belts have been changed. And what does anyone know about cleaning the throttle body and tuning the throttle sensor?

Thanks guys!

Change your oil and air filters at least every 10k.
Replace the fuel filter.
Make sure your coolant is in good condition.
Make sure your timing belt and water pump have been replaced at about 100k.
To clean the TB, it's as simple as taking it off and cleaning it with TB cleaner. Check the sensor according to the FSM.
Look up Seafoam treatment.

10k max is fine for the filters. And modern oils go well beyond 3k, even 5k. Under 'normal' driving conditions. Of course there's no harm in changing fluids and filters earlier, if you have the time, money and desire to do so.
