Engine Immobilizer/Theft Deterrent System

Last weekend I bought a used 07 SR5 with 65,000 miles and today was the first time I saw the Engine Immobilzer indicator light come on. Now I'm wondering if I also have a theft deterrent system? I have followed the procedures in the manual, but can't get an alarm to sound so I'm guessing I don't have the system. Is there another way to tell? Engine immobilizer light came on after I tried to lock the vehicle with the wireless remote and got a 10 second loud beep. Couldn't lock the vehicle until I came home and opened/closed the rear door, then everything was fine (but the immobilizer light came on). Do I need to talk to the dealer?

I believe the beep was to let you know that there was a door not closed all the way.

Also, I think if you roll down the drivers side window and lock the car with the remote and then reach in and unlock the door and open it the alarm will sound. Again. not totally sure.

You could try the panic button on the backside of the remote.

I believe that keyless entry with rear tailgate release, as well as engine immobilizer, is standard on all trim levels of the T4R in 2007.

Again, I believe that the vehicle anti-theft system is standard on the 2007 Limited V6 and V8 models, but not available on the base SR5 V6. If you have the SR5 V6 Sport Edition package, then the vehicle anti-theft system is included.

Same question, different parameters.

I've got a 2004 SR5, which I purchased with front end damage (hit a deer). The car was taken apart by a body shop, and, resentful that they weren't getting the work, many of the parts were missing when I got it.

So, I need to find out if my car has the theft deterrent or not, because I need to purchase the hood latch, and there's two different models. I presently don't know of any way to test this. There are 3 disconnected cables near where the latch should be, two of which I assume are for the horns.

Any advise as to how to find out if I have the theft deterrent?

Alternatively, can I just get the theft deterrent hood latch (which is more expensive) even if the car doesn't have the feature?

Thanks,
-John
