engine mods?.. more power?.

Hey anyone here have any engine mods they did?.. i have a CAI and throttle body spacer. but doesnt seem to do much.. the reason why im asking is because i had a 2008 fj cruiser before the 4runner, and it seemed to be more powerful .. granted the fj was a stick the 4runner just doesnt feel like it has 270hp.. the automatic doesnt help..lol..:shrug:

Stomp on the skinny pedal. Power is there. Just gotta work the throttle. Other then that, the only significant power gain out right now will be gears. 4.56s. No supercharger yet.

I'd try searching next time so some of the others don't flame you about a topic thats been talking about over and over. Have fun.
 
yea true... i just stomped on it 30 min ago.. lol.. it moves but doesnt feel as powerful as my fj did.. if they want to flame.. let them.. i really could careless.. if they want to be little kids.. ok

Great attitude, NOT, and way to get your posts ignored around here.
 
Your FJ cruiser felt faster because... well, it was... about 1/2 second faster to 60. Your intake and TBS aren't doing much, if anything. You can look into regearing, replacing the headers and exhaust, or and/or forced induction for now. S/C will be out next year. Shaving weight could also help with acceleration (FJ is lighter), but that can be a bit counter-productive depending on how you plan to use it.

The 4R is plenty fast enough for it's intended purpose. Don't be afraid to use that long skinny pedal on the right.
 
its funny.. the only flaming I ever see is from people saying "you're going to get flamed."

no surprise its slower... a traditional automatic transmission has power transfer via fluid, so its not 1-1 until its locked.

How much are they selling these throttle body spacers for? maybe I should get into the business... they don't do a damn thing besides make you think they're doing something. Not on a fuel injected vehicle that is... And last time I checked, fifth gens don't have carburetors.

go ahead and upgrade your exhaust next. That will help you feel a bit faster.

Your 6MT FJ had shorter gearing than the 4Runner. Shorter gearing does wonders for acceleration. Also why the 6MT FJ and Tacomas get terrible gas mileage.

With enough time and cash you could turn your 4R into this when the S/C comes out! It would be a fun to merge onto the H/W with this though. Maybe you should just trade in the 4R for this and then be happy.

And, he did break-in runs using an electric drill driving the crankshaft!

Yeah, we should be seeing the supercharger next year which is looking to make some phenomenal gains.

Like others said, if you need the power the 4Runner will react but its never on tap and waiting for you to dive in. I was underwhelmed by the acceleration, but compared to a lot of cars on the road, it is not slow by any means.
 
well lets not get too off topic. don't want someone to click on this thread and think one of those things actually does something.
