Engine Number Location Explained

I needed the engine number off of my 4Runner for shipping. I did a search on the forum and wasn't able to find another post that indicated where it was. Just in case other people find themselves in a similar situation, here you go.

Oh and if your Fender Shield disintegrates in your hand and you have to order a new one here are the part numbers. I recommend that you be careful with it since that little piece of rubber/plastic costs $18.

Shield, Fender R/L 53886-35020 AKA Rear Shield Back
Clip, Apron R/L 90467-10186

Having just gone through this only to find mine nearly unreadable, it turns out that the service department can pull up your engine number as well.

Mine started with 2UZ-FE, but after some explanation about that actually being a model number, they were able to find the actual number in their system.

It's the passenger side. Look a little more closely at the picture. I have it labeled. It just seems like the driver's side because of how the wheels have to be turned.
