Engine Oil Drain bolt Gasket

Recently I changed the oil bolt gasket with toyota fiber gasket. It started seeping oil. Upon removal, saw the washer is in two half washers.

I then found the following in local auto store. My personal feeling is plastic is much better as a gasket than a rigid fiber. This gasket is made by FelPro who makes gaskets for many applications and I hope this will do its job. It also comes with 1 year warranty. Anybody have experience with this gasket?

I get 10 OEM at a time from Amazon, plus you can get OEM filters super cheap when you buy a case. What year are you driving?

I replace them with aluminum washers since the metal is very soft. Next time you have the drain plug off go to a local parts store like NAPA and have them match the washer with an aluminum one, or copper if they don't have one. Works perfect.

OEM always for me. Never caused an issue. I replace every time, my dealer back home gives them to me for free so I pick up a handful everytime I'm there.

I do the Amazon OEM thing too for gaskets, but I use Wix filters from NAPA in everything I have owned going back to 1975. The have an all-synthetic oversize filter NAPA Platinum PFL41516 that is a little spendy but worth it with extended change intervals on synthetic. My Blackstone UOAs at 8k OCI say I could go longer but I won't.

I have used NAPA filters on mine for eons also, and I also get my drain plug gasket from NAPA. NAPA carries the same high quality rubber coated aluminum crush washers that the Toyota dealers sell. I have that felpro drain gasket on my 01. It's been 2 years and no leaks or drips. The old one crumbled. A copper or aluminum gasket is fine too.

Never had an issue with OEM gasket. I put a new one at every oil change. My parts guy at my dealership gives them to me when I buy oil filters.

I have to say in 40 years of changing oil from lawn mowers to semi trucks. ( On a farm with about 30 vehicles needing oil changes constantly) I have never..NEVER..NEVER..replaced a washer unless I lost it. There are no leaks, drips, issues...save your money and just put the bolt back in.

Yep. I replaced my plug and washer the first time I changed my oil and I haven't done it since. I also didn't use oem. It was duralast or some other Autozone brand. Still holding up 2 and a half years later

I put aluminum or copper washers on all the drain plugs.

I've never replaced the washer unless I needed to. The only time I actually had to replace a washer was on my wife's 2011 tranny drain bolt. The dealership either re-used the washer or put the crush washer on upside down. I made them do another drain/fill and put a new crush washer on the correct way. It hasn't leaked a drop since then. I've re-used the washer on my 4R so many times I cant keep count and it doesn't leak at all. They are very inexpensive so many of the OCD types will replace it every time, to each their own.

My toyota dealership is so worthless they cannot even change the trans fluid without screwing it up, amazing hey?

Here are the OEM washers that as far as I know work on all Toyota oil drain plugs at least gasoline engines.

+1 for highlife dimensions as I got the same off the OEM washers.

Copper or aluminum washers with those specs will work. I go copper as your have metal reaction is you use aluminum and why the OEM have paper on both sides of the aluminum washer...
