Driving down the road yesterday and my 1988 DLX EFI 4 cyl 4Runner just shut down. Gives no hint of wanting to restart. No hint of anything being wrong prior to that. It does have fuel. Towed it home and have done tests that are in the Bentley Service Manual and gone through several forum posts of similar situations, but so far haven't found anything. Pulled the fuel tank cover under the rear seat and I don't hear the fuel pump when the ignition is turned to on or when doing the test through the test engine connector. I pulled one spark plug and it is dry.
I'm leaning towards pulling the fuel pump and and fuel filter and testing them, but likely replacing since I'll have them out. I can't seem to locate the fuel relay that the manual says is on the passenger side, behind the glove box, but I'll keep searching this forum and the internet until I can locate it.
Any other hints, tests or other suggestions appreciated.
