Engine sound because of low octane rating?

Hello,
Please let me know if is just me or what. I think my 4-Runner doesn't work well with BP 89 octane rating type of gas for it sounded a little bit different when I am using this gas. I can hear some "tick-tick" also compare to when I bought last month. I don't feel any loss of power though.

Do you also experiencing the same thing? I guess what I could do is try the higher octane gas in my next gas fill.

I run 93 octane and my V6 still ticks, just the nature of the beast. The V8 is also susceptible to piston slap when its cold out but that too is normal.

I have put BP 89 & 87 gas in my 4runner v8 and like the gas it lasts longer to me but that sound is just piston slap and it should only last for a few minutes when cold at the most if longer, take it to the dealer and let them look at it but it should be fine

Unless you're hearing engine ping (which I have no idea if you are since your description doesn't help much), different octane ratings shouldn't be causing ANY changes in "sound". Your engine is tuned for 87 octane.
