engine swapping v6 to 4cyl

whats involved in swapping the v6 out for a 4cyl or for a bigger v6? ive seen this question asked a couple times but no one seams to have gotten a real answer as to the process or whats needed/required to pull this off. does anyone have any build pics or like a build thread that theyve found that details the swaps?

Here's your best bet.The 5vz or 3.4 in the 96 and newer trucks.More power ,better fuel economy and they last.They are also plentiful in the wrecking yards for a reasonable price now.Here's a site full of info http://www.andrewzook.com/content/view/22/37/

I would preffer the 1UZ swap. V8 all aluminum 32 valve.

You want to do the 3.4 swap, for one thing it will bolt-up to your trans and current engine mounts.

I ahev been reading up on the 1uz swap, and you can use the bellhousing of the 1uz and the runner trans. Not sure on total correct parts. But here is a site comitted to this swap if interested. From your sig i assume you like the power tourque of a V8.

you will need the ecu and wiring harness 5v the way to go if your gonna do it

I was interested in this also. I have the 3.slow w/ auto and was curious to go to a 4 cyl. manual, but a later model. possibly the 2.7?

So. Is there a conversion out there to put a 4 banger in 3vze?

Even though the 4 cyl is a better motor than the 3.slo, it's not worth the time, money and effort to do that swap, especially when the 3.4 is around.

i have a 88 runner with a 3.0 automatic. would that link be the same for my year if i wanna do a 3.4 swap?

I've got a 1994 with a blown 3.slow and I really want to do the swap to the 3.4L. I've gotten some conflicting info about my old tranny bolting up to the new 5vz. One source said you'd need the tranny from the 5vz. Lots of other folks though, have said it'll bolt right up to a manual trans but mine's an automatic! Have you done this swap personally? Was it with an automatic?
