engine whining?

so ever since my truck took a dip in the gila river ive had some weird engine noises. i had to replace the starter contacts almost imediately, the ac idler bearing lost all of its grease and was making noise so i regreased it. my power steering also began leaking at the same time. the leaking is slow for the power steering so i dont feel its nessesary to replace it just yet, however when it would get low initially i would hear this whining and then i would add atf and it would go away. eventually i put some stop leak in and it stopped leaking but started whining all the time. so i eventually flushed it all out and now it whines all the time no matter the volume of fluid. last night i finally got around to replacing the ac idler bearing and now the whining is gone, so the whole damn time it was the idler whining. I used the big lathe and was able to disect the bearing, it was crusty rusted and the balls were loose some how and so at low speed it would spin fine but at engine speed the ball bearings would start tk wobble and cause the groaning whining noise. anyways if you have a groaning going on it may not be the power steering it could be another bearing somewhere else.

don't forget loose balls.

I though I had the problem with my AC idler pulley but it turns out my noise is from the cheap masterpro belt I used.

behold the crusty balls.
