Engine won't stay on after cleaning.

My father has a 1993 4Runner with a 3.0L V6. He usually cleans under the hood. But for some reason, the engine doesn't want to stay on this time. I kind of trouble shooted a little bit and decided it's a fuel problem because we can spray gas right into the intake manifold and it will idle just fine for a while until it's all consumed. I thought it could be the fuel pump but i disconnected the FPR return and it shoots quite a bit of gas. I checked the EFI fuse and relay in the fuse box under the hood. They are both good. I'm thinking there might be some kind of solenoid that controls the injectors or something. I am not too familiar with Toyotas. Does anyone know what i can be?

Have you checked the fuel filter? Not familiar with the 93, but I have seen a blocked fuel filter cause problems like this before.

Sounds like you got water in your distributor. Pull off the distributor cap and clean it out, make sure it is dry...Just a thought. I've had this happen before on my old toyotas and this always seemed to solve the problem,,,,
Better yet, just replace the cap and rotor with a new one. Not too expensive...I think the the new one will come with a new rubber seal as well...
