Engo EPF10000S Review

Low Range, who I bought the winch from, says (paraphrased) "nut up and respool it, it's not damaged". Still waiting to hear back from Engo.

Like nate said useful advice lol, call them 360 573 0882 drew usually answers the phone. Don't bother waiting for a return email.

Another small update: In order to solve the lack of access to the winch remote plug problem, I ordered and installed a Tuff Stuff universal wireless winch controller (WINCH WIRELESS REMOTE KIT : Amazon.com : Automotive). The wireless control box fits perfectly in the winch control box and wiring it up was super easy.

Everything included in the package:

I also ordered a winch quick connector (WINCH QUICK CONNECTOR : Amazon.com : Automotive). so I can disconnect the winch from the battery when its not in use

Why would you ever want to disconnect the winch from the battery when its not in use? I am new to winches so excuse the ignorance?

No worries. It is a pretty simple answer, I disconnect it to prevent battery drain...My truck isn't really a daily driver anymore so there are times that it can sit for multiple days without being driven so I try to limit the drain on the battery by disconnecting the winch and other accessories.

The disconnect is a good idea because on rare ocasions a solenoid can get stuck closed and continue to pull in line. It can destroy your winch, bumper and maybe your rig too if you cannot disconnect the winch from the battery. There are some scary videos on YouTube of this happening.

Warn winches have 4 solenoids to prevent this--a backup solenoid for each direction. Engos (and most other winches) just have 2, one for each direction.

You guys still pleased with your Engo's?

Mine was good while it worked. I sold it with my old bumper to my friend and it died on him, I called them and they sent me all the parts I needed, I replaced the motor and it worked great... For a while, then it did it again, I think it was from water rusting stuff out.
