Entune Keeps Crashing

The Entune system in my 6-month old 4Runner keeps crashing and resetting. It usually happens when I get a call or try to do something though my phone. Anyone else have this problem?

Yep. Mine does it no matter what I'm listening to. It'll be good for a month or so then lockup 2 or 3 times in a row then be good for another month. I originally thought it was my phone doing it but it happens even with my phone off. I have the latest update.

same issue here. took it to the dealership, they updated the firmware - problem was solved for two days, after which point it returned to business as usual.

i now understand the motive for switching the entire headunit. initially i wanted to keep everything stock - but this stuff is getting super annoying. might make the move.

Check Toyota's download site and compare the newest Entune version to the version installed in your truck. Easiest way is copy to a USB stick and run thru the setup. It will tell you if it's newer or not.

I just installed the updated software in my 2015 TEP and it stopped the crashing (it crashed occasionally when I played music from my iPhone via Bluetooth). One week and counting so far without any crashes. I remain hopefully optimistic.

I've been having the crashing bug for a while. It's crapped out completely in the middle of important phone calls. I thought I had been updating all my software, but I just downloaded the updated software from the Toyota site. Hoping this fixes it. It's super annoying. I do not want to replace my head unit because it does what I need it to do (when it isn't crashing).

By any chance are you using a USB storage device? If you are, that could be the problem. I had serious issues when using one, then took it out. All was good. I then switched it out for a smaller dive...think I went from a 64GB to a 16GB....and it has been all good.

My 2018 ORP wither IPhone 7 sucks. Password resets every use, then crashes. I hate this crap.

I had issues with entune, what worked for me was going to a 2 panel layout on the home screen from a 3 panel. now everything works, I crashed once in the last year and text messages are now read (before they never were). now if I go back to a 3 panel layout, all hell breaks loose.

btw reading text messages is never a good thing if you are not alone in the truck, just saying

I don’t know if this is an entune issue or iPhone issue, but entune just doesn’t play well with certain versions of iOS. Some it does fine with. E

i have the same exact problem and my dealer told me that i needed a firmware update so i went in and did that and i still have the same problem when i initiate a phone call or receive a phone call.

i hear the echoes of pioneer calling my name...

Mine gets pissed off when I make a phone call. It just ups and reboots itself. Before this it would skip or stop playing music altogether until I updated it and rarely have that music issue anymore. It still restarts itself when making phone calls though.

My 5th gen crashes almost every time I play music through the car. It seems to do it way more often when both the wife and I are in the car (both of our phones connect via bluetooth).

Every time we road trip anywhere it happens at least every 30minutes-hour

pDubs, Love your kid torture avatar! If that is your child you will pay for that later in the form of Psychology bills.

Also I guess I am lucky with my Entune that it does not act up. I have noticed the phone favorites likes to go away at the most in opportune time. Overall in Entune is 2000's technology at best, one of my few complaints about my Trail.

Just bought my 18 ORP less then a month ago... Entune crashes when I'm using Siri (iPhone X) probably about 10-20% of the time. I've tried doing the USB update but can't get Entune to recognize the software. I've tried several different USB sizes, varying formats (FAT32, exfat) nothing seems to work. It'll recognize the USB for audio and I've changed up the startup screen as well with no issues... Going to try and have the dealer update it at my 5k oil change

Reading thru makes it sound like an iphone problem. I have an 18 TRDOR and my radio crashed like one time... I think?

I have an s7 and I never have issue (only with amazons terrible music app).

*resisting urge to bash people that buy iphones post 5s*

That being said. Stock head unit is trash even when it does work. I will swap to a phone mirroring headunit when the money is right. Looks like iphone users have a more justifiable reason to swap it.

Also like how they cheaped out and put a tiny screen in with gigantic "mechanical" buttons to fill in the space.

I have a S7 as well and my radio crashes all the time. I hate the looks of the aftermarket offerings so I will deal with the stock head unit for a little longer.
Mine is a 2015 and worked great for the better part of year and then started freezing and restarting at random times. Sometimes I can make it a few months and other times it happens every day for week.

Very interesting. I have like 5 or 6k on the odo. So maybe I will get lucky and mine will shit the bed like everyone else's! Why should I be special?

Been away from the forum for awhile but I've been having this happen for over a year now. Latest software, blah blah blah. Worst part is when on the phone and it crashes and you're left talking to yourself.

Mine seems related to temperature. Occurring less in winter, usually after driving for awhile with the heat on. In the summer it can happen almost continuously on very hot days.

Was hoping I'd come back and see a fix but it seems it's a near universal Entune issue. I too would prefer not replacing the H.U. due to the setup of the unit, not to mention cost.

Are those with 2018 models having similar issues or is it earlier 5th gens mainly?

I had the same issues with crashing for a bit also. I deleted the app and then reinstalled and all is well so far. I am using Android though, so not sure if that has anything to do with why its working well now?
