Entune Keeps Crashing

Check Toyota's download site and compare the newest Entune version to the version installed in your truck. Easiest way is copy to a USB stick and run thru the setup. It will tell you if it's newer or not.

I just installed the updated software in my 2015 TEP and it stopped the crashing (it crashed occasionally when I played music from my iPhone via Bluetooth). One week and counting so far without any crashes. I remain hopefully optimistic.

Thanks for posting this. I think the important thing to note is that this is the older version. People who recently upgraded may find this older version more stable. I have new 2018 update and my usb music is crashing and skipping constantly. I am reverting back to the older version.

I'm a bit late to the party here but I was having the same issue for awhile in my '15 SR5. A friend of mine who is a service manager at a Toyota store mentioned that if I have been using the system to receive/read texts, the storage can get full from these saved text messages and causing the system to restart. He said to clear out any stored text messages to free up some space and I have not had any problems since.

Interesting. Will give this a shot.

Entune Garbage

Talked to the dealer for a long time about these Entune issues. Crashes phone won’t stay connected etc...... Service department pretended like I was the only one that had issues. They acted shocked at all the problems I was having. Blamed it on Apple etc. I asked the sales person about it and he said that it’s really hurting the 4 Runner sales but Toyota has no plans for Carplay till 2020 in those cars.
Finally I asked the parts department if there was any Alternatives to that head unit. He said no. Then asked me if mine was crashing etc? I said yes why? He told me that they troubleshoot 20 cars a day, replace tons of units and have never solved one issue people are having. Toyota National tellls them to just downplay the problem. It’s likely hardware.

Been away from the forum for awhile but I've been having this happen for over a year now. Latest software, blah blah blah. Worst part is when on the phone and it crashes and you're left talking to yourself.

Mine seems related to temperature. Occurring less in winter, usually after driving for awhile with the heat on. In the summer it can happen almost continuously on very hot days.

Was hoping I'd come back and see a fix but it seems it's a near universal Entune issue. I too would prefer not replacing the H.U. due to the setup of the unit, not to mention cost.

Are those with 2018 models having similar issues or is it earlier 5th gens mainly?

yes. I have 2018 4 Runner (now 15K) and the problem continues. It freezes, ends phone calls, restarts, etc.

This worked for me, thank you!
