Entune NAV and PHONE issues 2014 limited

suddenly the nav and phone capabilities wont work on my 4runner Entune (premium JBL)

I start my car and the map display says "loading map..." and stays that way for as long as my car is on.
The phone doesn't connect, and if I press the phone button on the screen it says "waiting for bluetooth" and stays that way for as long as the car is on.

If I go to setup the NAV and PHONE buttons on the screen are "greyed out" and can not be selected.

Other functions that use Nav or phone dont work either (like weather, it gives the same "loading map...".

Anyone else seen this? any ideas on how to correct???

I had a similar issue with my iPhone 6plus and my Entune. I had to restart the vehicle off each time to get it to connect. That is the only solution I have found. Luckily it is not a regular occurrence.

Thanks Southman, it sounds like in your case, when you restarted the car it would function as intended (your phone would connect)?

In this case, neither the phone(any phone) NOR the Nav will function at all.

What year is your vehicle? Ok i just saw it was a 2014. I was thinking of maybe swapping my entune out for a 2016 model or aftermarket all together? Have you tried going into the setting and deleting the phone and reconnecting? What is puzzling me is why you maps are acting up. Bluetooth is finicky at times but maps kinda lets me to believe it is a software issue.

Its a 2014.
I can't get to anything that has to do with NAV/MAPS or Phone.

Car doesn't show up on my phone for pairing(I dont think it ever initializes the bluetooth at all, same with Maps/Nav).

If I have to get it repaired, and it costs too much, I'll be going with an aftermarket unit. I already was having reboot issues on occasion and I hated the voice command interface (it just didn't work).

I agree with the after market route. I am just looking for info as to if it would affect the safety connect function etc. I have had my radio stop playing before and my rear camera stay on both required a vehicle restart .

Just an update. So, after 4 days or so of this problem and many drives in that time, I drove to a local store today and when I got back in my car to come home both the phone(Bluetooth) and Nav started working!
When I arrived at home, I stopped and started the car again and it worked a second time.
W H Y !!!
I'm glad it's working, but what the heck?

When I arrived at home, I stopped and started the car again and it worked a second time.

Same thing happened to me too. I couldn't get it to work for the life of me & actually gave up... then one day, a few months later that is, it started working again flawlessly. I'll go with an aftermarket unit if & when it happens again. The dealership wanted to charge $80CAD to reinstall software.

I know this is an old thread, but I have the same exact issue currently. This happened once before in the first year of ownership. It too fixed itself after a few weeks. Now it's happening again. I wish there was a way to reset this thing!

I had a similar issue. I took it to the dealer who installed an update. Worked flawlessly for the past 9 months after update.

Someone posted a few weeks ago a link that shows you how to install updates without having to go to the dealer. I can't find the thread, but it can be done.

You can try disconnecting your battery for a few minutes (not sure how long a few minutes are here Ive see various times mentioned here in the forum) and that should cause the head to reset when you connect it back up. Just keep in mind that any setting you have in the head will be lost.

I did download and install the latest update and as of now all seems to be working again. Only time will tell if it will remain "fixed".

Thanks for this, i had tried everything. Asked the dealer and they said based on what i said it needed a new headset....

10 minute update and solved, thanks again.
