Please forgive my ignorance, (this is my 3rd day with the 4Runner) but why does my wife's Iphone seem to work so much better than my Droid when I sync it to the Entune unit?

I played some music from her Iphone once I synced her device and my wife complained the minute I stepped foot back in the house that she could hear me in the 4Runner playing music from inside the house. It sounded great with no adjustments by me I might add.

When I hooked up my Droid the next day, my music sounded like it was being played though a cassette player and I had to increase the volume much more to be able to even hear my music.

Did I do something wrong or is this how it will be? Did I miss a button or a setting somewhere in there?

Forgive the obvious question if this is something you already considered, but - was the volume setting on your phone turned way down? I hadn't noticed any particular problems playing music through BT with my Android.

However, I much prefer using a small jump drive plugged in to the USB port for music storage and playback. Better functionality through the Entune display. I think this interface was improved a lot over the previous model year.

Good question. I know for sure it was turned all the way up. It just seemed like the clarity of the music was not there. The iphone seemed to be like I was listened to High Definition compared to just Stereo. I will test it again this afternoon and provide updates.

No issues playing music through BT on 2 Android phones here either. Music quality is great. Are you streaming music stored on the phone or a streaming service like Pandora, Slacker, Songza etc?

One thing to keep in mind is that Pandora has audio quality settings that you can adjust from the Entune app installed on your phone. These are done outside of the 4Runner's radio.

We have a similar issue using my wife's phone a galaxy S3. While the sound quality is fine the volume is the problem when turned all the way up or anywhare on the phone output is only about half volume when maxed on the stereo.
We did not have this issue with our '13 Rav's Entune and my FJ's Bluetooth works as it should. Trying to figure it out.

One thing to keep in mind is that Pandora has audio quality settings that you can adjust from the Entune app installed on your phone. These are done outside of the 4Runner's radio.

[MENTION=106306]TEQ.FZJ[/MENTION] - I was using music stored on the memory card on my Galaxy S3 Phone. The fact you mentioned an App I was unaware of tells me I have to do some research! Which App do I need specifically? I saw 3 different ones listed on Google Play:

It gives you all the extra apps like Pandora, Bing, IheartRadio, etc when the phone is connected. But it doesn't do anything to streaming music on your phone. Not sure what the deal is there but my volume is plenty loud using an HTC One.

have you thought about the BT version?

if your using an older droid you could be using BT v1.5 or 2.0

on iphone 4 and up, i think they have BT v4.0

Just in case you missed it, there is actually a seperate volume level JUST for BT streaming on your droid. (Well there should be, but may depend on version of android)

So anyway, even though you have the volume up for listening to music through your headphones, that doesn't affect the BT volume. When you are connected to entune and playing music from your phone, use the volume rocker to increase the volume on your phone. A popup volume slider that has the bluetooth symbol on it will pop up showing the volume level just for streaming through BT.

At least that's the way my 4.x phone works

It seemed to be working better than it did the first time. Unfortunately after reading Warthogs post below, I didn't think to check for this. [MENTION=3475]warthog[/MENTION] - You know... I just discovered that there are separate volume controls the other day with the new software update I recently received on my phone. I didn't even think to check if that was the issue.

It's not really a new feature. For as long as I can remember Android has had separate "Media" and "Bluetooth" volume controls. When connected to a Bluetooth device if you change the volume you'll see a different notation.

Ive always had a iphone so this may be a silly question but do you load music to your Droid from iTunes? If you do then what I am about to say my have no relevance...I know iTunes stores (and typically converts) audio in AAC format which is a notch better then MP3, so if your Droid is being loaded with music in a poor format this may account for the sudden poor audio quality when comparing your Droid audio files vs iPhone audio files...

Excellent question. The music I have on my phone was burned from CD's to my PC where I just recently copied to my internal SD Card I have in my phone via usb cable. I agree that the AAC format in higher quality and if that is the case, I will stick with a thumb/stick drive full of I-tunes music instead of using bluetooth with the music stored on my phone. I just responded to your other post about the bluetooth streaming discovery too.

Yea I need to spend some quality time troubling shooting the issue. We don't swap cars often so I've been lazy about finding out whats going on..

I work in Greenbrier so I just might run into you. Problem is I might be in my Accord and everyone has one of those! The wife will be driving the girls around in the 4Runner.

If you are going down to the outer banks anytime soon let me know. I could very well run into you there too.

Once everyone is asleep I might be able to sneak out to the garage and do so testing tonight.

Check you Volume settings, newer Android settings differ between modes as has been stated before.

Something else to note is there may be a safety feature that needs to be turned off. For example my Galaxy S4 always pops a warning message when using the headphone jack to warn me that too high a volume can damage hearing. There may be a similar function for bluetooth for people using wireless headsets.
