Entune Sytem

I honestly don't have any first-hand experience with the Entune system. However, I was kicking around getting a system off of Ebay for a change of pace as I was liking the features that seemed to be offered.

First off, The Entune systems are made by Panasonic. They apparently haven't mastered Toyota's infotainment / telematics requirements yet and leave a bit to be desired. Check out the forum for the Entune owners:

The radios look good, but I'd wait to pull the trigger. If you do decide to anyway, make sure you get one that will work with your vehicle. Some are made for JBL equipped Toyotas, others are for non-JBL equipped.

The only thing I hate on the truck. I can't change apps it's over complicated, it's not plug and play with phones, and the list goes on. After I finish putting everything practical on the truck I will change it.

My wife's car, a 2013 Camry she doesn't even take the time to learn how to use it. Just plug is the phone and go, I am trying to figure it out but half the time it just kicks off my phone.

The Entune system isn't horrible, but it isn't great to be honest with you.

+1

I'm coming from a 1998 rodeo where I had the phone connected to the stereo through a cassette....so it's way better than that. However, it does leave something to be desired in relation to my iPhone and iPad.

I'm sure there will be updates and bug fixes for things so I purposely and not naming specifics.

Honestly it's "ok" for me but i don't use really any of the entune apps. I use nav but haven't had any real issues with it.
Tomorrow I'll be taking my first long trip in the truck, 13hrs, and using nav most of the way. The one thing i don't like about the radio is that when it pulls music from my thumb drive, which is a pain that is in the glovebox, but it doesn't play the songs in order they are on the thumb drive.....even if I do NOT choose random play. The head units and uconnect in my wrangler were better.

Out of curiosity can you answer these questions (it's okay if you can't answer all of them):

-Model Year of vehicle
-Headunit Type (i.e. Display Audio Premium w/ Navigation and HDD)
-Entune software version (found by looking under "Settings" and "Software Update")
-Brand/Model of Phone you are using (the exact model number found on the sticker under the battery is a bit more detailed and could be useful for checking phone compatibility via Entune's website)
-Software Version of your phone (i.e. are you running Android 5.1, Apple OS 8.whatever)
-What exactly are the issues?

The reason I ask is that you may just need a software update with your phone and/or Entune system.

For the first time today...12hrs into my 13.5hr drive my radio kicked and locked out my cell of Bluetooth play/operation ....just randomly out of the blue. But it's working fine now.

Jump in the truck to start my 13 hour ride home and guess what it won't connect bluetooth at all
Of course it's been fine for the last 4 days

I had it in my '13 Tundra and have it in my '12 4runner. The Tundra version worked better for whatever reason, but I didn't like either.

I have a Pioneer 4100NEX in my '03 4runner, and it is much better than Entune. It has mirrorlink, Android Auto, Carplay and Appradio all in one unit.

Well it seems my new Samsung S6 is the problem. It worked fine Bluetooth before i took my trip. Now it will link up and play music for about 5 mins then it kicks it out and locks up the Bluetooth function entirely.

Thanks

Thanks for all the replies. I went ahead and installed it, but I have yet to find a need for it. Although it does connect every time I start up, it seems to be working fine as far as connecting.

I'd really be interested in seeing some pics of it in action. How's the navigation portion? User Interface? Is it fairly easy, or can it be complicated to use?

Thanks
